So, I am an engineer with a major engine company and have been offered to relocate from Charleston, SC to Columbus, IN. The alternative is that I'm laid off this week. My wife has a solid job here in which she is just starting to grow (she has a more advanced degree than I do). The job in Indiana is pretty much exactly what I want to be doing, and would provide good experience for a future role elsewhere in the country. Mech. Eng. jobs here in Charleston are hard to come by, and I don't know that anything I find will be all that great. The problem is, Charleston is pretty much the most interesting city in the US. The weather, food, and now our friendships make this an excruciating decision. Has anyone dealt with something similar before, what did you decide, and how has it turned out?
