I think the staff is just trying to build a little depth. Bo left the TE depth chart in horrible shape.
After this year we only have 2 that will see the field in Stoll and Englehaupt so depth is a big concern. Allen is injured so time will tell.

RRT, is Snyder just not cutting it at this point? I was thinking he could be a good one when he signed.
I thought so too but I am hearing he has lots to do to get in the conversation.

You are right. And maybe he is not a very good defensive end. Still thought it was an interesting tidbit. Heck, I am sure Freedom didn't come here expecting to be a defensive end.

His coach who is a rock star in Oklahoma thinks he is a stud as a DE due to his tenacity.
I think he has had some injuries that have been a factor in his development. Also, he is only a redshirt freshman, so the light bulb could go on at any time.
Union beat Southlake Carroll last not on the road. Carroll is a very solid Texas team year in and year out so impressive win for Union.
Really young and with the injuries it's WAY too early to write Snyder off.

I did. It says we have five TE commits in the last 14 months.

I hope people show patience with the kid. With our facilities and staff, we should be able to develop kids. I'm not one of those guys who thinks we should be recruiting ready made talent who have to play early. With a walkon program that typically supplies one additional tight end a year, I think we'll be fine.
my daughter's high school has a modest amount of college talent each year, but when they get on the field with jenks or union the difference in talent across the board is readily apparent.
Thought that kid favored Dave. Not to mention the name isnt really common. Not sure if those wanting a coach want his dad. Hes not bad but as a Virginia basketball fan the best thing we ever did was hiring coach Bennett after letting Leitao go.
That said I like how this kid looks as a TE.
