Everyone is so worried about losing this class if Coach Riley gets fired. My theory is that it will actually be better, because I think kids (other than local/500 mike radius types) aren’t coming if he stays. Even if they haven’t decommitted yet, I’d bet a large % will after the season.
That’s because those kids are being warned by opposing coaches, their parents, their high school coaches, etc. that Coach Riley won’t be here in a year even if he’s retained this year....so why sign with NU when in all likelihood the coaches they’re committing to won’t be here in a year? I may be wrong, but I actually think a new coach will sign an overall better class than a “lame duck” coach will - in December and in February.
