As a transplanted Husker living in Charlotte, NC, just wanted to give you an update on my experience at the UNC Charlotte/Southern Mississippi Basketball game last night. UNCC is below .500 on the season at 8-9. Former NBA All Star Mark Price is the Head Coach. We had seats 3 rows behind the SM bench. Doc, who I rooted for when he was an NU, looked like a coach who did not want to be a coach at SM. He did not say ONE word to any Assistant Coach in pre-game warm up, during the game, or in any time-outs, NOT ONE WORD. All of the Assistant coaches just stared at the ceiling or the clip boards the entire game. UNCC won the game 82-66 but it was pretty much over the start. The entire game, Doc screamed and ripped each player as they came to the bench. There was absolutely no enthusiasm whatsoever from one coach or one player on Southern Mississippi team. In contrast, we went to see the Huskers play Clemson in December and Coach Miles and all the coaches were coaching their butts off, encouraging players, the coaches would huddle up in during time outs and then Coach Miles would meet with the team. The Huskers played with tremendous hustle and heart against Clemson and lost when a shot didn't fall at the buzzer. From what I can see, the Huskers are light years ahead of where we would have been if Sadler was still the coach. Hate to say much negative about Coach Sadler because I was a fan of his, but he has a mess on his hands at Southern Miss and I would not be surprised if this was his last year at Southern Miss.
