do you feel that since you guys have left the Big12 it has been a positive or negative?

Just my opinion from here in SC is it has kind of hurt your exposure but that also could be cause of where i live.

Just curious

I love it for one reason the Big Ten Network. I get to see a lot more Husker sports, there are good shows as well. Texas stood in the way of a Big12 Network so we had to go where the money and stability were. Texas has destroyed every conference they have been a member of. We called the shot while we had the opportunity. The Big 12 misses us a WHOLE lot more than we miss them.

Big Ten is a better fit all around for the University and the Athletic Deptartment. Now if we can get two of our old Big 8 friends to get into the conference that would be icing on the cake.

The Big 12 was getting too much southern power. I was happy we left. I miss playing KU and OU but the rest I could care less about.

Plus the Big Ten Network is awesome.

No doubt the Big 12 didn't want you to leave, I for one of most Big 10 fans are glad you did. Ne would be a great get for any conf and we're glad you chose us.

LOL. Interesting revisionist history.

Nebraska was opposed to a Big 12 network at the outset. After the majority of the conference, including Nebraska, rebuffed Weiberg on his proposal to put together a Big 12 network, Texas began exploring a school-specific media rights deal. Nebraska was opposed to the network idea for this very same reason. NU thought it would be better to keep its options open and explore the possibilities of a school-specific deal. You just didn't have the draw for that idea to ever get off the ground.

The Big 12 was doomed from the outset, Texas's power grabbing egos ruined the SWC and they couldn't help themselves by driving a stake in the heart of the Big 12. There's no reasoning with short horns.

LOL. I see you all have really sold yourselves on this silly narrative.

The SWC was ruined because a one-state conference with a bunch of small private schools stood no chance once conferences gained the power to negotiate their own TV rights in the mid-1980s, not because of any nefarious actions by Texas.

The Big 12 was indeed doomed from the outset, but that's only because it began life as a demographic inferior to the Big Ten, SEC, and Pac-10. Once the ACC tore the Big East apart, it was obvious to anyone paying attention to the larger trends in college athletics that it was just a matter of time before the bigger conferences came after the Big 12.

Pointing the finger at big, bad Texas is a convenient red herring for Nebraska. Nebraska fled because it was not altogether certain that they would have a better opportunity for a stable landing spot in the future, when the Big 12 would inevitably get divided up by the more demographically well-endowed conferences, if they had stayed in 2010. Hell, Nebraska has made noise on and off about joining the Big Ten since the Big 8 days.

Would say it has been very positive, and a very good move on NU's and the Big 10's part.
the stability of both parties involved, has made it a no brainer.

I would say winning always solves any exposure problems, and I wouldn't want to be overexposed while losing anyway. the less said about 6-7 the better.

There was a lot of good times with teams we played in the past, but the instability of leadership in the big 12, forced the move. Now with a reasonable coach, and stable conferance leadership, NU can focus back on football. The way it should be.

The Big 12 could have worked but I think it was just too much of each university looking out for themselves and not "what's best for the group".

I still don't fully enjoy the Big 10, but its getting better. Still would rather travel to Manhattan, Ames, Norman, etc than go to West Lafayette and Bloomington.

I think our national exposure and reputation is a separate issue from whether the move was good for us. I love the move, love the conference and think we fit better here. We'll have plenty of exposure when we can get back in the top 10 on a semi-regular basis.

The problem was Texas had an agenda, plain and simple, rule the roost and not worry about anyone else. There's nothing convenient about having to start over in a new conference. The only thing demographic inferior is Texas having the their officials put a second back on a clock. Man up! Austin is plagued with Opportunists!

Tom asked Texas directly in KC "will you sign your TV rights over to the conference". Texas said no and Tom called the B10.

I personally feel it was a very bad move from a performance/results perspective. In my opinion, it has had a direct negative impact on the results of the team. A lot of relationships were ruined by the move and our once fertile Texas recruiting produced nothing at all this year. In fairness, this years class did turn out ok.

Most people will quote the money and tv, but we really haven't seen any monetary gain yet and the TV portion has been a benefit, but at the cost of attendance. I blame Tom Osborne for both of those mistakes, the stadium expansion and the conference move. It remains to be seen if the current AD will have better results.

I am in the minority on this compared to most, but I feel moving to this conference put more nails in the coffin lid than people realize. The move was done from the perspective of providing stability. This is achieved, however there is little incentive to do more in the B1G as long as the distributions are paid out equally among the teams. Nebraska very well could become like a Minnesota with many prior national championships a long time ago, but spends the next hundred years sucking the big fat tit of the B1G and from that perspective and the stability, it isn't all bad.

Every major conference would accept Nebraska, your ignorance is really showing.

Nebraska called Texas' bluff, told y'all to pound sand and now, we're in a better place for it.

So you think NU has no reason to excel because of "socialist ennui?". I don't know what fanbase you've been watching for the last 60 years, but Nebraska fans/boosters want football to succeed more than just about anything. Having an equal share of the money couldn't matter less regarding our desire for football success.

Also, people for some weird reason seem to think that "without" Texas, NU will suffer in recruiting. We did just fine in the Big 8 without a Texas school in our conference. NU has always recruited nationally. As long as our recruiting classes are strong who cares what state our recruits come from?
