Pure class

NU continues to charge a "donation" for season tickets. Either they arent worried or are idiots. Id go with the latter.
Or (and call me crazy), they understand the basic economic principles of supply and demand and what point donations still are viable.
But I am super-sure that you have this all figured out. Your posting history shows you have all the right answers.

Why are you such a dick about absolutely everything? Still stuck in your head for calling you out for being butthurt all the time?
Youre right, at this point it probably still is viable, but theyve had to start doing something theyve never done before: advertise and sell ticket packages. And if you havent noticed, the stadium is not full some games, noticably so, which wasnt true until recently as well. When you add in the expanding media market, a millenial generation that wants to pick and choose what it wants without buying the whole cow, home theatres and tvs etc. plus an aging fanbase that cant make games anymore. I think it would be wise to cut the donations, maybe keep them for very prime seats but no more than 15% of them, and try to get as many people signed up as possible. Once they are signed up and start coming to games they will likely renew. Who knows maybe I would even get them, I know other people have shown i terest but been turned off by donations..
They dont understand the basic principles of economics regarding elasticity, evidently, as everything is elastic over time and while tickets to NU games were once inelastic, that aint the truth no more.

Oh, and since youre always so butthurt that I have an opinion and probably out, lemme refill your prescription:

i can think of about 1000 things I'd rather do with my money than "donate" for the right to buy tickets....shrug.

With an already high, and increasing renewal rate on season tickets, I think things stay the same, as they are doing just fine:

You and 4.6.3 are probably right.
I just dont forsee how they can continue the practice in the foreseeable future. It's odd to me that they have to sell game packages and advertise for tickets as they do when they never used to. Not my worry I guess, but someday the instant buy up to save the streak is gonna end.
Of course winning changes all of this.

I don't think it's the donation requirement that is causing people to give up their seats. Every game is on tv, the convenience of watching on tv vs the hassle of making the trip 7-8 times. You can go 1 or 2 times and still get the experience if you want it.

I agree, which is why i think the fee is turning people away from it. If I can watch at home on my flatscreen and scalp anyway, why pay a fee for the right to get season tix? Just makes it less attractive imo.

Hell going to games and having to listen to dipshit "run the ball" guy with his gigantic headset on from 1988 is reason enough to stay home.
Yes, the fanbase is aging, and hopefully that part of the "fanbase" dies off first.

That made me laugh. I'm sure that gigantic headset from 1988 guy is on his cell phone like everyone else. Hater. Laughing

There is a guy that sits behind us about 3 rows. Most miserable prick ever. Every play call is wrong and every defensive set as well. Finally last year the lady in front of him turned around and asked him why he even bothers to come to games. It was awesome seeing him stammer and stutter

Sounds about a miserable at reading your posts on this board!

I'm sure we have the pleasure of his presence on this board.

Nope. Just sits and grumbles, pisses and moans. Sits by 2 other guys but they are not nearly as loud. It is hilarious seeing assholes that are obviously so bothered by everything the staff and team do. Reminds me of a few posters here that claim they are "behind the team"

In my day, we didn't wear helmets. It hurt like hell when our heads hit one another and we frequently had to be carried off on a stretcher. But that's the way it was and we liked it!

I laugh, cuz I like to do some of the things I used to, but I still pick up new trends from time to time. Like this new fangled forward pass thing...

Is he planning on dying soon? He's got to watch the game somewhere (if he wants to watch the game). I can't see him attending every game (at his age) outside. So, what's the point of giving the skybox back to the athletic department? You're right. Most likely it's a non-starter. Just sounds like he doesn't want to attend the games any longer.
Do you ever read anything without putting your own twist on it?? Tom said he will be attending games with friends. I'm sure there are friends standing in line to invite him. Takes the pressure off him and Nancy from hosting.

Where's the lighten up Francis gif when I need it? Re-read the thread. Just discussion. Are we not allowed to even talk his name due to our reverence? Do I have to show you my collection of letters from him that he wrote to me? Do I have to show you my copy of his book, More Than Winning? I swear, you all circle the wagons a little too early when it comes to Osborne. If I discuss anything he does, does that make me less of a fan?
