I'm tired of starting over. I'm tired of regime flips and philosophy changes. I want NU to stick this out with Riley and Co. I want the seemingly impossible - the fan base to give them time and support. I know we live in an instant gratification society but we've got to wait this one out. Riley and Co have issues...no doubt. Personally I think deep down Riley struggles with something I did as a coach. I don't think he knows how to be a winner. He's coached subpar teams for so long that I think he has an unconscious alignment with losing. He'd never say that out loud and probably doesn't even know it's there. But you can't suffer so many difficult seasons with subpar talent (at OSU) and not have that unconsciously affect your expectations of winning. I have no doubt that he is a good coach but now he needs to learn how to win - how to be a winner. It will likely take time but we need stability in this program and I for one will hitch my wagon to Riley and Co and give them time to figure it out. And I hope the fan base will as well.

That's the thing that gets really old. We are a front running fan base. Things are going well and we puff out our chests. Things take a downturn and we lose our F-ing minds. We are not the greatest fans in college football. We are the most obsessed fans in college football (me towards the top of the list). Our need for a Husker fix is too great. This team can never fill the void we so desperately need them to fill. So, I would ask fans to keep selling out the games, going to the games, cheering loudly and doing your part, and when subpar performances manifest...to hang in there. Be disappointed sure (I am) but don't cut bait and run (all the talk about firing Riley or Langsdorf or Cav). It only makes things worse for the current team and any recruiting that may or may not come to fruition.

As bleak as it appears at the moment...and it does appear bleak...this team could still right the ship and win the West (not the whole thing, but the west). They have enough on the roster to improve to that point. But negativity surrounding Memorial Stadium will only help them hit the under on the Vegas win total. I believe if Lee trusts he'll have time in the pocket, he'll find people. If RBs find holes, they'll gain yards. If the OL improves, our offense will start putting up some serious points in my opinion, and with a defense that's finding themselves we could still make a run at this season. So I'm going to try and hang in there and back these guys. I hope enough of the fan base will as well.

Solemn but determined G B R.
