Predictions: When/Who-the first real leak.

I think TA has had his guy for a while now. The only thing happening now is people that have no clue what is going on getting ancy and panicing.

Seems like a million miles away.

I think NU only has 3 guys on offense and 3 on defense that are good enough to play for most of the top teams in the country. So, other than the kickers, that leaves 16 spots where NU lacks the talent and that's gigantic.

That means a new coach and his staff need to evaluate who has the "potential" to develop and who doesn't. Those that don't need to bid a fond farewell.

I'm still of the belief that a couple of the OL actually have the ability to become above-average players IF the right S & C man is hired. A change in lifting requirements, a commitment to getting those fat, lazy players in shape and pounding some aggressiveness into them.

I still shake my head when I see Benhart listed as #1 on the depth chart at RT. To think that's the best NU has is really disheartening. 25 starts or so and he's still a turnstile. He's a guy you almost have to get help every snap that is a pass play.

An incoming coach could watch the film of the OL and it wouldn't take long for them to know why NU has had so many losing seasons in a row. And the fact the HCs were content to let the kid(s) still start.
There was a play earlier this year where one of our tackles did something I found remarkable. The defensive end starts to come around. The tackle does this obligatory ghost push with all the exuberance of a disinterested 12 year old girl and literally stops moving. Turns around, while the play is still going on, puts his hands on his hips(standing still), and watches while his man is ripping the arms off Thompson, the guy he was supposed to protect.
If on the next play we had snapped the ball to Thompson and he wound up and nailed this player in between the shoulder blades with an obscene spiral I would have cheered as loud as I have since Cory Schlesinger ran for the winning touchdown in the Orange Bowl against Miami.
If this staff was as capable as I wished, that would have been the first play shown Monday morning. Fellas I want to show you something. There would be no other comment. From that point on that player would not be involved in any upper unit scrimmage plays and would never see the field again. That would have been a cannon shot without a sound.

In high school we had muldoons who had the size of a college lineman but had no fight, no heart. They were on the bench because there was this kid, smaller than our hs sized running backs, not necessarily an athlete, who was relentless, mean, and probably mentally ill who anchored the offensive line. We all went to school with guys like that. You can't tell me there aren't a few guys on our team who have an insane desire who couldn't easily do a better job. Being 6'9" and weighing so much is fruitless if you don't have an attitude.

In Cool Hand Luke, Strother Martin said there are some men you just can't reach.

I’ll be mildly surprised if it’s not still Rhule

His recent media appearances makes me think he's not the guy or at least the deal's not finalized yet, tbh.

It could be a ploy to show Trev "look i have a sweet TV gig".

Wait and see, I guess.

I don't think he has been turned down by anyone. That type of stuff almost always leaks put.

But if we end up with a guy like Bronco or MJ then we'll know for sure that he swung and missed on multiple targets.
Turned down or or the agent told Alberts their client is not interested in pursuing the job. Same thing in my mind.

Alberts says he is talking to coaches administrators all over the country and not all of them will be candidates for the job. He says he is doing it to gauge interest. Sitting coaches are interviewed all the time and other schools are ready to announce quickly. Especially when they have fired the previous coach during the season.
