The Huskers are sitting at 5-0 and feeling pretty good about themselves. There are seven more conference games remaining so anywhere from 12-0 to 5-7 remain in play.

Pick the games Nebraska will LOSE out of the remaining schedule.

Note: Vegas set the regular season over/under at 8.5 games, so they would have to win four of the remaining seven to go over that total.

I see pretty likely wins in Purdue, Minnesota and Maryland (though one could argue that Minnesota and Maryland have some reasonable chance at an upset.

I see pretty likely losses in Ohio State and Wisconsin.

I see tough to call games in @ Indiana and @ Iowa.

What say you?

I predict a bunch of happy Husker fans.

I'd be thrilled to split the Wisky/OSU games and then lose to one of Indiana/Maryland/Iowa.

If they lose to both Wisky/OSU and win out the national narrative will be "They are 10-2 but have no quality wins"....and I would agree.

Wisconsin's gonna be punch drunk with playing Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State and Iowa before we travel to Camp Randall. We need to jump on them early and often to take full advantage of their brutal schedule.

I think we have a shot at Wisconsin if we go in there and pound them early, because they'll just have completed the worst schedule stretch in the Big 10. We will lose to Ohio State, and of the remaining games (Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, Maryland, Iowa) we could easily go 5-0, or maybe more realistically 4-1. So, 9-3 or 10-2 should be how we finish, with a berth in a solid bowl game.

And they have to travel to Northwestern after our game and I really don't think they're going to win that one.

we will lose at least three games
Even with the injury bug hitting us hard I can't see that happening. Just curious who do you think that loss is going to be too because I can't see it happening? I'm sticking with 11-1. I'm starting to feel more comfortable about the Wisconsin game because the only way they're going to win that is if we totally throw away the first half. They are just going to be so physically and mentally beat up from the schedule.

Minnesota at home could be an unexpected hurdle. It's not that I'm scared of Minnesota, but coming off of the two game gauntlet of Wisconsin and Ohio State could lead to a flat, possibly injured Husker team. If they go back to back losses, they could also be emotionally spent.

Great point. I've also stated in other threads that Minnesota won't be a payback game. So yes... Minnesota is definitely trouble.

That was my thinking early in the year too. Now I just hope they are anywhere near as beat up as we are. Our team is a walking MASH unit, hard to believe they will be any more depleted than we already are.

Wow, 100% think we'll lose to Ohio State, lol. I thought maybe there would be somebody that thinks we could win!

I'm not so worried about the game in the Horseshoe. I'm more worried about the game the first week in December. And if that game is against the Buckeyes or the Wolverines we just need to win THAT game.

The thing about a schedule like theirs is it mentally depletes you. And that affects everybody on the squad.

I hope you are right, but something tells me they will be up for a night game at Camp Randall against a Top 10 Nebraska team (assuming we are undefeated at the time).

I agree and that's why we need to come in there hard and fast and play a great first quarter.

I am not sure why everyone is fussing about the Indiana game? Yeah we are banged up but Indiana's schedule goes from Mich St., Ohio St, then Nebraska. That is no easy stretch and they will certainly be as banged up as Nebraska. I would take Nebraska's depth as a program any day over Indiana. I think the previous staff has really made some pessimistic Husker fans.

Nebraska just isn't deep enough on both lines for me to predict. All 4 road games scare me, as do Minny and Maryland at home. Best case I say 2 losses. Worst case we could lose 5.

4-3

That was my prediction at the beginning of the year.......And what I would call a great bounce back year.

To me the Indiana game will set the tone for the rest of the year.

And the thought of no Cethan Carter for that game is very concerning to me. Not just for his big play ability.

You know I didn't want to say it but you could really tell how losing him hurt the offense. Hopefully we get him back sooner than later.

There needs to be a spot on here for loses to no team :)

CC is a special player. His ability to move around and play all over the field allows us to change formations without substituting, which is hell on defenses. We need him back, soon.

One thing that never gets brought up is that both Indiana and Wisconsin will have played Michigan St prior to Nebraska playing them. Considering there are some similarities in those 2 defenses the Nebraska coaches will get to see what was successful and what didn't work both to the defense by the offenses and by the defense to the offenses. Huge factor when gameplanning.

This also helps offensively because Michigan St also runs a pro style offense. Additionally for the Wisconsin game, Michigan and Iowa both run a pro style offense. There will be plenty of film for the Nebraska offensive coaches to sift through and utilize for gameplanning.

I am very nervous about our defense in up coming games - Indiana will be tough - OSU - Minnesota has their running game going, Wisconsin has a great defense, Maryland is playing better anbd Iowa is always a tough game and its away. About the only gimme is Purdue and they did beat us last year although I dont see that happening again.

If our defense plays better against the rush we can be very competitive if not 3 losses is minimum

I had a change of heart here recently. I'm thinking two losses, that's with what we know (or think we know) today. It's still early in the season, so I'm not gonna bet the farm just yet.

What I don't know:

How good is Wiscy? Their two marquee wins are not so marquee anymore since both LSU and MSU aren't in the top 25 now.

OhSU? I'm waiting until after Wiscy before I firm up an opinion.

Maryland? I can't write them off at this point, otherwise I'd have to dismiss us as well. And schedule-wise, they're sandwiched in between our tough stretch and our iowa game.

And then there's us. Our stats aren't great, they're average and good. But stats can't measure heart and makin' plays when you need to.

At this point, the Dr. Pepper guy still has a chance of being correct.

You know I didn't want to say it but you could really tell how losing him hurt the offense. Hopefully we get him back sooner than later.

Please share how you noticed this and what specifically did you see that changed.

I think you guys will have a great season the rest of the year. A lot of winnible games for you guys and their are a ton of good players on the d for you guys. I can see 8-4 or 9-3 for the reguler season and then a bowl game apearance which for reilly in tyear two would be phanomninal. bright future for sure and wish you guys luck!

Having Knevel, Farmer, Ozigbo and Moore healthy should do the trick at Indiana. As far as Carter, we really need him back for Wisconsin & OSU! Still think Westy might be back for Indiana. Just have to see early next week.

I predict three losses. I think the most likely one is OSU, and the other two will be come from two of these teams: Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland. I voted Wisconsin and Maryland in the poll, but we'll have to see how things unfold.

I gotta say...
Isn't it great to be five games into a season and be looking forward to great things the B1G? Nothing was worse then KNOWING a big fat egg was coming. We've got the two huge games coming up and almost to a man people are excited to see what happens. What a breath of fresh air!
