The Power V conferences, with or without realignment after the next round of broadcast contracts, may ultimately elect to have their own championship. This will force the independents to secure a P5 conference affiliation or be grouped with the G5. If this happens, the G5, et al, may have their own championship.
My guess is there will only be four "G5" conferences at this point each with 18-22 (9-11 team divisions with round robin schedules and no cross-division play in the same conference) teams. The four division champs would play first round conference championships with the four conference champions playing for a Power Championship.
The remaining teams would play for a Group championship. I think having two tournaments would be exciting, raise more money and avoid many of the current problems. I suspect the Power Championship would be more fun than the Group Championship with wide open offenses.
What say you. (I've previously stipulated that I'm an idiot.)
