Portal time again? Iowa loses a WR and RB

I understand the sentiment but in Leshon’s case, what does he do? It’s his last yea rod eligibility and I don’t think anyone blames him for not wanting to waste it getting 3rd or 4th string reps. Does he stick around and tell Kirk he isn’t playing? What’s a head coaches response to that? Mine would be to mutually separate. No reason for him to be around the program if he is gonna refuse to play past 4 games.

I don’t know his case specifically, but I think every team needs depth and role players, and guys have to make a decision to accept their role once the portal windows close.

I’m ok with discussions with coach about preference to redshirt, but it should still come with player saying “but I’ll do whatever the team needs me to do.”
Hopefully, most coaches would do what they can within reason to work with a kid, but coach also needs to manage a limited roster.

Staying with the team means they don’t lose out on development and they keep good standing with teammates.
