Jones isn't an edge.Where are the actual linebackers? To my knowledge we only have 2 on scholarship (I am not counting Edge players like Nwaneri, McGahee, Jones, Merrit).
Shavers
Rodgers (didn't really play this year)
Genatone (only played ST)

Got PAAAAAI_DUH... Good for him.
I really like Hunter. Big, fast, productive and three years of eligibility.
You're not convincing me lol. LB is one area I don't get how we miss all the time and Iowa pumps out All-Americans. We started two formers DBs this year for the most part outside of Gbayor who is now gone as well.In the 3-3-5, MaGahee is one of the 3 LBs. NU is listing Nwaneri as a DE. Jones looks like he would play the non-JACK OLB. Merritt is a pash rusher, but still looks to be growing into his body. I think it's likely that Jones will play in the LB rotation as a first year guy. Genatone is a really athletic kid, but that hasn't really translated to the football field for him.
Stenger is on scholarship and I think he can come on as a solid depth guy. I like the idea of moving McGahee back to an ILB position and finding a more traditional body type for the edge.Where are the actual linebackers? And LB is who should be your leading tacklers not DBs. If DBs your leading tacklers you're more than likely giving up first downs and touchdownsYou're not convincing me lol. Jones and Merritt might change some of that but Iowa doesn't always "pump out" All-Americans. They've had some success in part due to the continuity they've had at DC. They're not changing defensive schemes every couple of years. Having Chinander and Diaco before him were just killers for our linebacker recruiting. We need to keep Dvoracek on board for as long as possible and we'll see guys drafted as linebackers from NU.You're not convincing me lol. Boy I hope so. Our LB play is subpar imoJones and Merritt might change some of that but Iowa doesn't always "pump out" All-Americans. It's just been inconsistent more than anything. Some of that might have been scheme related. There's no question that Merritt and Jones are higher level recruits IMO than what we've mostly been getting. I also think McGahee, Rogers, and Shavers are more physically talented than some of our older backers.Boy I hope so. Our LB play is subpar imo
Going back to Frost, Henrich and Hannah were 4*, as were Mauga, Key Greene, and Ho’ohuli. Best LB recruits of the Frost era were Reimer (NR) and Hausman (5.6 3*). Scott was King of the blue chip busts. It's just been inconsistent more than anything. Some of that might have been scheme related. Not this year it hasn't been. I don't know where you're getting that. Robby D is doin ahelluva job with that room.Boy I hope so. Our LB play is subpar imo

He’ll be making a Key decision for Nebraska this weekend!I wonder if Nebraska is Key's last visit and if he will be making a decision after the visit?
Idiotic statement. And yet the drunk down at Texas can manage to keep a generational talent with last name Manning content for 2 years as a backup. How is that possible? Can the drunkard manage a program that much better than Rhule?
Sarkisian is no longer the drunk that you call him and it isn’t drunkard managed program. So no it isn’t true. Why is that to you, because it's true?
The Manning kid is getting over $3 million a year to be a backup QB. Give Rhule an extra $3 million of NIL a year and suddenly he'll be able to "manage" to keep any backup he wants to keep. And yet the drunk down at Texas can manage to keep a generational talent with last name Manning content for 2 years as a backup. Bullock played very well, but he was a bit undersized. A few others who were inconsistent. One person who is getting lost in the shuffle is Maverick Noonan. He seems to be a bit of a tweener.Boy I hope so. Our LB play is subpar imo
Rhule did have the opportunity to keep and pay both and he chose instead to kowtow to a freshman. Too bad our OL coach has maintained a completely bare cupboard after 3 full years on the jobWe need to lock down two good OL, then the offense will be ready.
It seems to me, without looking at the numbers, that we have more WR and DB than any other position. We keep getting told "we want to establish the run and stop the run". Ok fine. Then we need to emphasize more both lines and RBs and LB. DBs shouldn't be our leading tacklers. Kinda means atleast 5 to 7 yard gainsBullock played very well, but he was a bit undersized. Dana called Donnie "as good of an O line coach as I've been around" in the press conference this week. He would like to find a couple of high level EXPERIENCED O linemen in the portal but that doesn't mean that Donnie hasn't been doing a good job. It means there was a hole in recruiting Frost's last two years. Gottula and Lutovsky came in after injuries and played pretty damned well. I think the young guys will be just fine but it's expected a lot to expect 19 year olds to come in and perform on the O line in the B1G. Look at OSU's recruiting and yet they still had problems on their O line this past season.Too bad our OL coach has maintained a completely bare cupboard after 3 full years on the job
Idk if I fully agree with that. Brix and Taumua were highly rated. Marks and the two island kids have good potential we got this cycle, Hammerbeck is a 4* as well.Too bad our OL coach has maintained a completely bare cupboard after 3 full years on the job
There are multiple guys waiting in the wings but their babies. You know that. Dana would like a couple of experienced B1G starters on the 2 deep but IF not Donnie will get the kids ready. You're crusade is going nowhere. Dana has his backTo all the people who laugh at this comment:
Who is waiting in the wings to round out and improve our OL play?
Thanks in advance for your non-answers
Pyle as well. We've got some dudes but they're really young to compete in the B1G. Ideally you find a couple of experienced starters in the portal where you don't have to throw that young of guys in the fire so soon.Idk if I fully agree with that. Brix and Taumua were highly rated. More nonsenseRhule did have the opportunity to keep and pay both and he chose instead to kowtow to a freshman. That's just the kind of person he is.
Looking back, the lack of hs linebackers is kind of shocking. No wonder Christian Jones is coming here. Very easy path to start if we don't get a good portal addition. It seems to me, without looking at the numbers, that we have more WR and DB than any other position.
