Please DO NOT accept a bowl invite.....

Obviously you didn't read or understand my post. IMO They will get worse with more practices instead of better under this staff! Time away is what these players need!!

Did you seriously type this and do you seriously believe this? If so, look for a different team to 'cheer' for because you can never be happy.

Tommy has not changed at all in his horrible decision making. He says that he will, again - but no one forces him to. It is acceptable to this staff. It does not matter what skills a QB has - poor decisions made with the ball make everything else pointless. Decision making is the #1 attribute of a QB, then accuracy probably, then the rest. It baffles me that they never pull him for poor performance. The coaches must bench him during the next game if he makes another horrible decision. I know the back ups might not be "better" - but nothing will move the needle in any direction by allowing it to continue.

Didnt our backup qb throw FIVE interceptions last time he played? Im sure they would of liked to bench players at certain times this year. Then, they turned around and looked at their bench.

Bowl practices are where you build depth. It's where the guys that have been at the back of the depth chart or primarily on special teams or on scout team duty get a ton of extra work and there is a bit more one on one and specialized work that there isn't time for during regular game week when you do so much more opponent prep. It's like a second spring.. and considering a good part of the spring this year was spent on things that weren't actual football we need that.

It's also a bonding trip for the staff and team, again expecially for those depth guys that generally don't make the travel squad. We need that too.

Turning down the trip would be idiotic, and frankly the game itself is irrelevant.

This is true. It's not like Nebby lost talent from last season to thins season. A new coaching staff and somewhat new system takes some time. Accept the bowl invite and use it to your advantage. Fans that make posts like this topic frankly feed the stereotype of Nebby, and it's unfortunate as the majority of Nebby fans are knowledgeable and respectful.

College football has changed. Nebby will be back. It will likely never be at the consistency level it once was, but few are ever going to achieve consistency like you saw in past history going forward.

It is what it is. From time to time Nebby will have seasons that are hard to accept.

Disagree, if they haven't improved in 12 games and like 100 something practices. 1 meaningless game and a handful of practices will not matter. That time is better spent getting recruits and moving on to next year. Bowl games were intended for good teams to be rewarded with a bit of a vacation at end of season that why originally you had to have 7 wins to get in. Then money took over and every company and their dog have a bowl game. So it is moved to 5 wins. This team doesn't deserve a bowl. Again participation trophy generation at its best.
This is ridiculous. They haven't improved in 12 games? really? Seriously, be objective. There was massive improvement on the defensive side of the ball. The side everybody was ready to point to as the reason Riley should be fired. And yet, for some reason, no one is talking about the defense. Why is that? It doesn't fit the narrative. Defense showed up big down the stretch.

So you think comparing a 3rd year player to a former walk on with zero starts is intelligent? What coach in their right mind puts a QB making his first start and hasn't seen any significant playing time in a game and has him throw the ball 48 freaking times? Of coarse he is gonna throw some picks. 29-48 with 4 TD's and 4 or 5 picks in his first start ever. I think he can get better with more meaningful playing time. Hell even put him in for a series or 2 just to calm TA down a little bit.

I really don't understand the thinking of not playing a bowl game. This game could get a lot of younger guys a great deal more experience heading into next season. It would be absolutely ignorant to decline a bowl if the conference even lets you.

I have no problem admitting the D is better, much much better. I never said it wasn't. My point was the team as a whole unit still has tons of issues. Penalties being a big concern, Tommy being another. IF those issues are still around the last game of the year, they will not be fixed over the course of a month and few practices.
As someone stated earlier recruiting and bowl game will not affect each other. So if that is really the case, might as well go bowling.

Maybe someone has already posted this - but Nebraska might actually get some favorable publicity out of getting to a bowl game at 5-7. Since the Academic Progress Rate is apparently going to be used as the method for determining which 5-7 teams can be selected, that may help put a little polish on this turd of a season.

This is a stupid post. You must not have ever coached. More chances to teach and to learn more about your backup players. This will cost N U some $. Legal practices are very valuable.

You first sentence made my point. We have no depth. If they are both gonna throw pics, give me the guy with the bigger arm and better legs.

So answer my question of what other coach would put a kid that is a walk on in a starting role for the 1st time and throw the ball 48 times? Don't blame that so much on Ryker as the idiot coaching decision. It was Purdue for crying out loud, with the worst rush defense in the conference. But we pass 48 times. I wish they had went to a 2 qb system early in the season. I would guess Ryker has shown more improvement than Tommy has. Tommy just has experience on his side.
