Jared Crick remains one of my all-time favorite models for player development. An interior defensive lineman so needed time to learn position and, perhaps most importantly, S&C to transform the body for the position.

Year One (true freshman)
* Off-season S&C
* Spring Practice & Game
* Season: Redshirted and worked on scout team.

Year Two (RFr)
* Off-season S&C
* Spring Practice & Game
* Season: First experience. Played 9 games, two total tackles.

Year Three (RSoph) The BIG Jump
* Off-season S&C

* Spring Practice & Game
* Season: Starting DT. Major impact player - 73 tackles, 15 TFL, 9.5 sacks

It's the slow summer season so here's what I'd like to do. Let's identify Player Development Models -- The STANDARD by which all who follow are measured -- for each position on offense and defense. Then let's see how our current roster is measuring up (as best we can tell) and perhaps identify players for whom you believe this could be a big year.

Of course some players develop faster or slower based on a variety of factors. Ndamukong Suh really became the transformative player in Year Four. It's subjective. If you have a different model, let's take a look.

Have to start somewhere so since I believe games are won and lost on the offensive and defensive line, I'm starting there with Defensive Tackle and offer Jared Crick as the Standard for Player Development.

Have at it.
