Passing yards per game allowed on defense we are last. Below are the top 10

Some teams on this list are legit. Some are not. 3 played Military Academies, one played two.

Point being, I'm concerned about our passing stats, but I'd be even more concerned if they were that high after playing a lot of the teams on this list.

We played 4 good to very good QBs (and Kaaya may turn out to be great).

We will never know how good a season Hill would have had for BYU, but when healthy he is a proven QB.

Clements of S. Alabama is no slouch. He split time at UAB last year and played well against Mississippi State in 2014.

Kaaya of Miami in 2014 vs Nebraska 28-42 for 359 yards. 25-42 for 379 in 2015. So a lower completion percentage, and 20 more yards compared to last year vs Nebraska. Anxious to see how he does the rest of the year.

Mullins for USM as I mentioned in another thread passed for over 300 vs Miss State this year, which is a much better team than Nebraska IMO.

So with that in mind, here is the top 10 passing yards per game defenses. How many would still be there playing the four teams Nebraska played?

1. Boston College- started the season vs Maine and Howard.

2. San Jose State- got rolled by Air Force who passed for 24 yards. Also Beat New Hampshire.

3. North Carolina- Played NC A&T, Illinois, and Deleware.

4. Florida State- BC, South Florida, Texas State.

5. Michigan-Utah, Oregon State, UNLV, BYU.

6. Uconn- Nova, Army, Mizzou, Navy

7. Eastern Michigan- Old Dominion, Wyoming, Ball State, Army

8. Ohio State- VA Tech, Hawaii, N Ill, Western Michigan

9. Kent State- Illinois, Minnesota, Deleware State, Marshall

10. Northwestern- Sanford, E. ILL, Duke, Ball State.

Interesting post... wonder why no one will consider this?

It will be interesting once the B1G season comes to an end where Nebraska ranks... No doubt we will not remain in last place. That doesn't mean we don't have issues in our D backfield, we obviously do. But the competition has been tougher than most other schools at this point I would imagine...

Sorry, I'm just not buying this argument. Our schedule has not been murder's row.
We are freaking Nebraska.

No kidding we have issues, but schedule at this point has a lot to do with stats. Does anyone really think we'd be last if we'd played Maine, Howard and Delaware?

Who cares about "not being last"? I have higher expectations for Cornhusker football.
I have high expectations as well... But I also will exhibit some patience to see if what we have can be fixed before declaring it broken and ready for the garbage heap.

This is the difference between you and me, I guess... I believe it can be fixed over time with an influx of talent (hope that happens), and the sense I get from you is that giving it time won't do a darn thing. What we have now is what we will have 5 years from now as long as Banker is coaching the Defense...

Last, as in nobody in all of CFB is worse at defending the pass than we are. That's really hard for me to wrap my brain around.

Never said we're ready for the garbage heap. I did not have high expectations for this year. If you read my posts on here, you'll see that I have been clear and consistent about MR needing time to get this ship turned around. That said, I don't look for excuses for this team. I've seen the games, and the problems run deep. Our schedule has little (if anything) to do with it.

Thanks for clarifying... So what are the problems then? It seems as if there are two camps. One says coaching, the other says lack of talent. What are you seeing?

We are freaking Nebraska.

This pains me to say but what is Nebraska today? Hmmmm.

We are unranked, again. We have zero conference championships and what three division championships this century? Our last bowl appearance in a traditional New Years Day Bowl game was the Cotton, Jan 1, 2007. We are just so freaking elite that we should just roll everyone, and absolutely can not give any credit to any opponent if it is not a traditional power? We can't admit that a QB from a lowly school like South Alabama or Southern Miss might be pretty good? It doesn't matter what these QB's might have done to other Power 5 schools because, well, we are Nebraska!

That ship sailed in 2001 after 62-36. We have had almost as many eeked out wins vs FCS teams in the last few years as we have division championships. We've been rolled on national TV more times this century then we have big time wins.

If I had to sum up Nebraska in a song, here it is, except right now, we aren't as good once as we ever were. At least not right now, and haven't been for a long time, but I hope it changes, but it won't be this season. I guess this won't make me a fan in some people's eyes.
