I've coached for 30 years. Here is what I've learned. And it is getting more intense due to select sports. More often than not, parents want their investments to pay off so badly. Their investment is the money they have paid to select sports with the expectation of scholarships down the road even if the child doesn't want to play the said sport anymore. Burned out.

As the High School head coach, you need to take the bullets for the player. Even if nobody is aware. I can't tell you the number of times I've heard.... "My mom wants me to play ____ "

Parents. Relax. Enjoy the level your child is playing. They look to you in the stands to see your reaction after a shot. When you get visibly upset, they get upset. I've had numerous times my girls have cried (Basketball) during timeouts because their parents were frustrated.

Enjoy the process. Enjoy "their" time. It will be over quick.
