Asking for the great wisdom of the RRS's. I tried Google, but I think I need to escalate to the real center of knowledge in the universe.

I just moved to a new house in Jan and I have a whole house humidifier. Whenever I turn it on, the water just runs continually out the hose on the floor into the drain. I tried it for hours, nothing different. Is that normal? Comes out at the same rate as a hose outside.

It's getting quite dry in here and the static is out of control, so I want to do something. Do I need to replace it? Doesn't seem super expensive to do so (Home Depot had them for $150-250 range).
