In the market for a new grill. Currenty have a small propane grill for ease and quicker grilling on weeknights, and a small charcoal grill for when I have a little more time and want a little more flavor.

I've outgrown the propane grill and it's time to upgrade. Had been doing some research and leaning Weber, since I had underestimated the versatility of the Traeger.

After more research and input from uncles whom own Traegers, now Im leaning that way.

They are obviously different machines, and its very subjective, but wanted to get some more opinions before I pull the "Traeger."

I love my Traeger! There are so many things you can do with it. There isn't much down time for preheating. All the different flavors of wood pellets is great too. It says to only use Traeger brand but I use Cabela's as they are cheaper. I say go with it.

Pellet grills are excellent. I own a trager but I'm sure most are good. Need the supplement smoke tube and welding blanket. I got mine at big papa. Will add extra smoke for about 6 hours

Just made a full 14 pound packer brisket on my traeger. Rubbed it and let it sit since Friday. Smoked it starting at midnight last night. Threw it on 225 for 5 hours around 6 am and now it's sitting in a cooler for a couple hours before we eat it. They are foolproof man. Perfect every time. I will will say I have friends with an egg and they are exceptional as well. Love my traeger because of the ease of use and quality and consistency every time.

Louisiana Grill. Higher heat, better heat control than Traeger. Have had both and prefer the Louisiana.
Did a brisket last week, 10 hours for a 11 pounder. Absolutely great. Melt in the mouth tender.

Don't waste your money on inferior products like traeger. Go support someone local like blazin grills who makes a much superior product.

Another great one and probably the grill I'm going to buy shortly is the rec tec made by a couple good Ol boys down in Georgia. Link provided. http://www.rectecgrills.com.

Both these grills are far superior quality to traeger or even green mountain or whatever it is.

I know money is always a concern for members here but, I came to the point in my life where I separated smoking/slow cooking from grilling (i.e. two different grills). I have the Blaz'n Gridiron for smoking / slow cooking and a PGS gas grill for "grilling" with a infrared searing burner. The infrared searing burner is the key for cooking steaks, hamburgers etc to seal in the juices. Searing takes about 1-2 minutes per side and then move them to the regular burners. Restaurants don't have charcoal grills.

I have a lousiana grill lg900. If you are looking to grill burgers and steaks, I use my charcoal grill or my gas grill. There is a slide cover that lets flame thru but its not big enough to cook much.
I love my lg900 for smoking anything. but not to grill

Except the Charco-Broiler chain. Not sure of others.

For me its a pellet grill. I have had 3 Traegers. I know they dont get as hot as gas grills do but on high my steaks and burgers are excellent. Even if it takes a few more minutes to cook them over a gas grill. Once you start cooking with wood, i think you may become a pellethead like me! Good luck! Its all about what YOU enjoy!

Listen fellas, did the cavemen have grills for their wooly mammoth? No. So put a set of Firestone tires on your truck and go do truck stuff. And when you're done, dig a fire pit and go find something to burn in there. Roast some meat on a spiket, put the women and children to bed and go hunting for tomorrow's dinner.

Did my 1st pork butt (17.5 lbs) and 1 rack of babybacks on my new Green Mountain today. The pellet grill delivered. I cooked burgers the night before. The green mountain cooks just as fast as my holland gas grill.
