I'm in the market for a backyard swing set for my kids. Live in Indiana so local Nebraska dealers would be of no help. I have 3 girls.. 6, 3 1/2 and 8 months so looking for a nice set that will grow with them. Would prefer a wooden set. I have a little tikes set now and they've outgrown it and I personally hate the way the plastic ones look. Budget is $700 to $1200 tops and looking for something no bigger than 20x15 or so. I have been looking at the pre cut and drilled sets from Backyard Creations, Leisure Time Products, and Gorilla Playsets.
I have read a lot of reviews...they are all made with Chinese Cedar which of course is rot and insect resistant, but I have read some concerns about the softness of the wood and long term durability. The BC and LTP sets are really the same company, I believe. The Gorilla sets appear to have thicker lumber and are a bit more expensive. I have also thought about buying a set and subbing in thicker floorboards in the tower to beef it up a little.
If anyone has had any experience with any manufacturers that you would recommend or stay away from, please fire away. Thanks!
