he was actually hit again in his next plate appearance but the ump called it a strike because he didn't get out of the way (?)

Crazy. It is super weird how some guys seem to get hit all the time.

In looking at where he sets up he has arms and elbows over the plate. So not really surprised.

Watch the vid and look where his right elbow is located. Probably also why the one ump didn’t let him take first after one of his HBPs

He's definitely on the plate, but I don't see anything unusual as far as him being over the plate. I've seen a lot worse. If you watch all of the HBP's he gets absolutely dotted on the hip/leg multiple times.
