I have a 20-year old single-stage Ariens with the rubber paddles (impellers). Paddles are original equipment. Had not used machine for about 4 years until yesterday. After going about 25 feet, and not hitting anything that I'm aware of, the paddles literally shattered into about 15 pieces. Would this be a typical breakdown for paddles that old? They cost $80 for new ones alone so not sure even worth fixing. Any feedback appreciated!

Yes, I have a Honda single stage snow blower and have to change the paddles every few years. Here in Eastern Washington we have been hit hard by snow. We've had anywhere from several inches to well over a foot on the ground constantly since early December. We got hit by another 6-7 inches this past Wednesday. It is so piled up it isn't going anywhere soon. I use a 36 inch wide snow (pusher) shovel made by Garant to push the snow to the driveway's sides then come along with my Honda and throw it off the sides. I do our's and a couple of neighbors' and can get them cleared off pretty fast. You might want to check the scraper on the lower front section of your snow blower, too. On my Honda it's plastic and I have found a new scraper makes a big difference as well. I find great genuine Honda replacement parts and for pretty good prices on EBay. I save quite a bit from what I have to pay at the local Honda dealer.
