The Pott County Attorney mentioned in the press conference that since this incident crossed state lines, the US attorney will be consulted. He seemed to imply that it was possible he could face it in federal court. Not sure if it can happen or not.
This one hit close to home. Officer Burbridge is related to someone my wife knows very well. The death penalty might not be good enough for the illegal pos that just committed two murders.
From my understanding, upon sentencing, he was asked if he had anything to say to the victim's family. He said something along the lines that the victim was an idiot for getting involved in something that was none of his business, so he deserved to be murdered.

Probably because it's not true. It's been reported that he's a Dominican national, but not that he was here illegally.
If he were illegal, I assume they would have deported him for his prior crimes rather than sentencing him to prison. And if he were illegal, I assume fox and breitbart would be all over it. They are not.
Very sad situation regardless.
If someone commits a crime in the US, they will almost always serve their time for the crime in the US before being deported. If they are ordered deported following the completion of their sentence they are turned over to ICE the minute the sentence is completed. They may end up staying in the same prison/jail while ICE completes the deportation process.
And yes, it is a terrible situation.
Prayers for the families of all who were involved yesterday... Especially the deputy that lost his life. It is just a sad situation all around.
I don't care if the guy was Al Qaeda, Syrian refuge, Russian, Dominican or a 100% US citizen. He was in custody for his previous actions, what more do you want? Unfortunately the only person you can point your fingers at is the convict himself. I will never understand the thill/chest bumping of "I knew it!" or "I told you so" or "It could of been prevented if..." statements. Why does it matter he is a piece of s*** no matter where he is from, and that is all that matters
