Many of us are going to make a decision soon to get a family member, child, spouse, loved one (etc) a Christmas Present.

The video game giant EA has many popular games out there right now. One of those being Star Wars Battlefront II. The main issue that most individuals are having with this at this point in time, is that EA decided to have you pay full price ($59.99) for the game, then not have all the playable characters unlocked for you to play. You will need to play approximately 4,528 hours (before they lowered the credits needed to unlock the character). Now some people don't wish to play that many hours to have the full game unlocked for you to use, so EA added "loot boxes" that allow players to purchase these boxes with a chance to unlock the character. These loot boxes also give other things that give little advantages in the game. There was an individual who decided to estimate how many crates would need to be purchased in order to unlock all the characters. Now, this is an estimate since they are based on randomness and you could potentially unlock all characters before you purchase all the crates, but they estimated that some 3,111 crates would be needed. That equates to $2,100. Now on top of already paying a decent chunk of money for a "complete" game, you will still have to play a large amount of time, or pay money on top of that to fully unlock the game. The EA Community Team responded to this on Reddit, and have achieved the most downvoted comment in Reddit History.

EA has now effectively put gambling in a game that was directed towards a younger audience. Disney, the owners of Star Wars, have approved of this but they are too big to care. EA, however, will notice a dip in their sales, and it could potentially hurt them in the long run.

Most people honestly won't care, and EA has removed the microtransactions at this point in time, but they did leave it with a door open saying that they could put them back in at a later time when they re-evaluated the climate. So, I beg you guys, to please take a second and reconsider purchasing a game that was made by EA this holiday shopping season.
