it's probably been discussed before but my question is what's the deal with the penn st volleyball coach hate for Nebraska so much

I think he was just trying something new since we had beat him 6 times previous. Well, now it's 7
and all he accomplished was to come across as a jerk. I didn't actually see anything, I just had heard(2nd hand) a comment made while I was listening on the internet, that the Penn St. coach wouldn't talk to coach Cook.
You can get beat by somebody and still be gracious about it. Russ Rose is just vindictive, resentful and a flat-out jerk.He resents the fact that we dare to beat him instead of bowing down to him and hailing his awesomeness.
I think this goes beyond the current Husker win streak. Rose and cook haven’t gotten along in years. I remember hearing stories about this in 2008 when that ridiculous penn state team that didn’t lose a set all year came to the final four in Omaha and Nebraska took them to 5 sets before losing.
Maybe we should send Coach Rose these videos?

I don't think he likes that Omaha gets to host the Final Four so many times. And Kansas City too.
He's a douche because Cook is a better coach than him.
I have a coworker who is a Texas volleyball fan who can't STFU about this. But the NCAA isn't going to select a championship site that won't support the event. The fact is that Nebraska fans are some of the most rabid in the country, and would show up for events in Omaha and Kansas City even if the Huskers weren't participating.
The same coworker had no answer why Texas sites should be awarded for things like NCAA basketball regionals, when TV footage clearly shows fewer than 6,000 fans in the stands. Empty seats don't impress.
Yep. He finished a Masters at NU and then was a defensive coach for Petit. I don't know what happened but clearly it's personal between those two.
I feel SOOOOOO bad for Texas, Florida and California teams that dont get to play national championship games in their backyard....eye roll....
why are bowl games in tx, fl, and ca? because thats where people want to go to watch a football game in dec or jan. same thing with vball. they put it where people want to watch it.
Can't answer what the burr is. Several years ago he wouldn't shake Cook's hand after getting beat. I did see footage of Cook and Russ walking onto the court the other night chatting. Russ even patted Coach Cook on the back. So I guess there is that

Oh the irony of a UT fan bitching about favorable treatment with regard to an opponent hosting championship games/matches in their backyard.
PSU's coach is Russ Rose. He got his masters at Nebraska and was an assistant here in the 70's under Pettit before taking the PSU job.
He has never gotten over getting passed over by Cook as Pettit's sucessor in 1999. He wanted the Nebraska job badly.

john baylor (husker vb radio announcer) was telling a story about Kelly Hunter and her mom. mom called russ rose to gauge interest when the family was searching for a school. russ rose asked her mom why she would want to come all the way out to the east coast when you have an excellent program in your backyard and they would be able to watch Kelly play. so, Baylor was saying rose actually had an influence in Kelly attending nebraska. also, espn showed a short clip of cook and rose walking together on the sideline before the match and cook patting rose on the back---BUT, just how "warm and fuzzy" that interaction was, who knows. one can go to 'volleytalk' and you will see there are a number of volleyball fans that are not very happy with FF's being in Omaha or close to nebraska. "home match" argument against the huskers is frequently stated.
You could play the final 4 on the moon. If Nebraska is playing it would be a Nebraska home match.
VT annots me so much. I've tried for years to join that forum... every email address I have evwr tried is flagged as invalid.
I don't think it's that way at all. Since joining the B1G, I think we're pretty even with them in terms of wins. And even though Rose is a crusty old fart, he still has 7 national titles.
