OT: NJ Little League Turning Argumentative Parents into Umps

As someone that helps coordinate umpires for rec level baseball/softball, this is awesome. In our org, the head of baseball printed up several hundred business cards with a link to sign up to umpire to hand out to any unruly fans.

First year having our son play select baseball. AA level, 9U. We're about 10 games in a parents on both sides have been great.

A few grumbles here & there (usually when an ump keeps a tight strike zone and we just saw the 3rd batter in a row get walked), but so far parents have been very understanding that this is only 9U ball.

That's awesome. Will they also get indefinitely suspended for insanely bad calls? *COUGH Reggie Drummer COUGH*

Brilliant!

I had a rule (that I was not allowed to implement) that any text/email that I got from a parent about the team...good or bad...would go up on the school website.
I like your rule. I don’t coach anymore but my wife does, I’m going to suggest this be put in her player/parent newsletter.

I would imagine it would solve a lot of problems!

Last email I got was this

Subject line: Meeting

Email: I want to set up a meeting.

Turns out it was, shocker, over playing time!!! I thought it was about academics.
