IMO NFL is simply a low quality product. QB play is just the most abysmal it's been in a very long time. You have teams with near a losing record leading their division, I don't think that's the type of parity people want. Flags galore, and as mentioned the games last forever. The protests don't mean much to me because my interest has been waning for years, so can't say that's the straw that broke the camel's back. By far it's watching the piss poor QBs in this league. Goodness!!
Direct reflection of spread offenses with dual threat QBs in college football. Coaches reading the defenses from the booth, relay the audible and execute the play. There is not much teaching, just get the ball to the open receiver even if you have to shot put it.
That's the problem, and to take it deeper most NFL franchises are drafting these guys over guys that would actually develop into really good qb's down the road and instead teams are left with the garbage we see today.
I think that its a combination of over-saturation (people do get tired of things when it's nonstop), the anthem protests, a lack of stars that people genuinely like (Cam Newton's antics annoy a lot of people), the resurgence of MLB with the Cubs winning the WS, and the election and it's aftermath.never thought i would see the day that writers would even be commenting on such a thing. for me, much of it has been the "hollywood-ization" of the nfl.
