There's a reason people think professional sports are rigged
Was my exact first thought and almost posted this thread myself. An obvious total giveaway by the Mavs. Lakers are +2000 to win the championship and that just became interesting. Hard to go against the Thunder, but you can probably buy the Lakers low here even if just as a hedge. There's a reason people think professional sports are rigged
Zero chance this year. This is a long-term play as Luka is battling injury. They might even rest him the remainder of the season and work to acquire a center for next year. Then Lebron, Luka, Reaves, and a good center makes next year interesting. Was my exact first thought and almost posted this thread myself. NBA is garbage.I tried to care..
...i failed.
You can’t like Doncic because he got traded to the Lakers? This doesn’t help either team that much. What a weird deal, all I know is that I can’t like Doncic anymore
This, it's the ****ing modern NBA. Who cares?I tried to care..

Dumb as hell. Lakers now have a lot of offensive guys but no defensive guys. Lakers were finally starting to get healthy and play well too. They didn't need a panic trade like this.

Update on my comment about buying the Lakers championship low at +2000: Roughly 13 hours later they’re +1700.
He is definitely an annoying bitch, I’ll agree there.I have no NBA team cause i dont care for the league anymore...at all...cept for below
But I think...i'm prolly not the only one who actually does care, even though i say i don't, because just like the Cowboys...its fun watching this version of the Lakers fail miserably. So i am very entertained right now watching that train wreck...which mean i guess i do care. LeBitch can suck it.
Cubian has gone off the rails just like Jerry jones, Al DavisI'm a huge Mavs fan and I am done with them. This all rigs of collusion. The Adleson family bought the team in hopes of bringing casino gambling to DFW. They're not going to get it. I believe this is the first step in moving the team to Vegas. It makes absolutely zero sense. Even if you didn't want to pay the max contract for Luka, you most certainly get more than one number one pick. And you noticed they didn't shop around they just did a back room deal. I'm out. No more NBA for me. It's all rigged.
Cuban sold controlling interest in the Mavs two years ago.Cubian has gone off the rails just like Jerry jones, Al Davis

Bigger than KD going to the Warriors. That got a couple of Titles, not sure this trade does that.Zero chance this year. This is a long-term play as Luka is battling injury. Biggest trade of my life. Insane.
They're all entertainment, put on for us. The fans by billionaires, it's not really much different than the old gladiator days, it's all rigged And everybody's making money but the fans. There's a reason people think professional sports are rigged
But that wasnt a trade. He was a UFA.Bigger than KD going to the Warriors. That got a couple of Titles, not sure this trade does that.
Dallas fans, any that are left, probably wouldn’t be happy on either of thoseAs a laker fan would have been much happier if it was LeBron for Luka and not Davis for Luka 😂
Haha not a bad comparison, but I THINK Davis at least has potential to still be good for a couple more years. He is incredibly injury prone though so that just adds to the bizarreness of it all.I haven't followed the NBA in over a decade but keep hearing this is the worst trade ever in sports. I don't know anything about the players so it's hard to tell why. Someone told me in football terms this would be like the Bills trading prime Josh Allen to the Jets for a washed up 41 year old Aaron Rodgers and a 7th round draft pick. Football wise a trade like that would never happen. Is it really that bad a trade?
Davis is an incredibly good playoff performer, but is a little more lax in the regular season. He's easily the best defender in the league. If the Mavs can get to the playoffs in a decent position, they should be fine. The Lakers meanwhile don't have a legit 5 and have several guards who are poor defenders.Haha not a bad comparison, but I THINK Davis at least has potential to still be good for a couple more years. What is this "defense" you speak of?Davis is an incredibly good playoff performer, but is a little more lax in the regular season. He's easily the best defender in the league. The reason the trade doesn't make sense to me is that the Mavs now have a logjam of talent at the front court while the Lakers have the opposite problem. So more trades need to be made. I think the Mavs actually made out better in the short term. Lebron and Luka are essentially the same type of ball dominant player, and that doesn't tend to work very well together.
Yup, I think a good hypothetical would be, would you rather be the Mavs and win a title with Davis and then have him drop off a cliff career-wise (very plausible for the reasons you described), or be the Lakers and have your next generational superstar/top 5 player for the next decade (also very plausible)?Davis is an incredibly good playoff performer, but is a little more lax in the regular season.
