OT: Let’s Go Mavs

I think Worster would average 15 to 20 a game in the Summit. He may have a bad shot, but he would get to the rim with ease in that league.

Williams, Gary, Morgan and Worster would all start for UNO
But would they be in the tournament 🤔

Worster wouldn’t start for UNO that’s crazy talk. Morgan at center, possibly. Worster could start in the summit for Oral Roberts or Denver but that’s about it.

Yeah I'm not in any way suggesting the Mavs could compete in the Big Ten. I'm saying that beyond NU's big two, the Huskers have a Summit League roster. That's what makes next year downright scary, unless there's a big portal haul.
Every year is a big portal haul.

Let's not go overboard. Morgan played three years in the Summit and averaged about 10/5. That's hardly dominant. Worster's results would be similar to that. The only way Worster averages 20 ppg in the Summit is if he's the only player on a bad team and UNO isn't a bad team. There are good basketball players in that league. We should be trying to get more transfers out of there and forget about bench riders from Rutgers.

GG will probably enter the portal the day after our season ends. It sure feels like it already has ended.

I was wondering if Fred was scouting any of our in-state prospects at the state tournament this week. It couldn't get any easier to finally start building relationships with in-state kids, but alas I doubt he even bothered to walk down the hall to watch.

I think I saw Fred on the links. Can’t waste nice weather like this.

I would hope the entire basketball staff spent their “week off” scouring TV coverage of conference tournaments, looking for prospective portal talent. If they haven’t been doing that, they have way too much job security.

Were there many prospects playing? I genuinely don’t know.

Nebraska has no HS prospects at the Big Ten/ Big level. The Hunter Saliis , Chucky Hepburn Saint Thomas etc.. group likely won’t be see in Nebraska for a while

They are already doing that. Scouting HS kids this time of the year would be going the extra mile.

And so what if there weren't? Is it that difficult to show some interest? Maybe Fred actually did. I don't know. But anyway, there were prospects there. Bryson Bahl, for one. He's a 6'5" guard, shoots over 80% from FT line and about 40% from 3. Just starting to develop physically. He's going to South Dakota St. to start his career.

Westside has a young kid who projects to be a big time prospect. Again, I'm just talking about walking down the hall.

Side note: Fred was late to offer the top 100 2026 kid out of Kearney. Iowa, Creighton and others offered before Fred did. Why wait?

So stick to the plan. Bring in some transfers, sign a random HS kid. Don't put in any time recruiting outside of the fun summer networking circuit. Got it.
