Been blowing at 30-50 mph (gusts higher than that) since early afternoon and not expected to let up til tomorrow morning.

I can deal with -20 degrees in the winter, 15-20 inches of snow over two days, heavy rain or 100 degree days in August. (don't care for high humidity)

But I hate the stupid wind. Ruins ball games, golf games, yard/garden work and BBQs and hanging out in the back yard.

Rant over......

BB, its funny you should say that. When I moved to Alabama of course I liked the warm weather, no snow or ice. But the one thing My wife and I tell people that only someone from the plains can understand is the best thing is almost no wind compared to Nebraska. I can sit outside and have an actual conversation without shouting. I can set things down without having to worry about it blowing away. I could go on and on, needless to say, I feel your pain.

I live in SD and it's super windy also. I was just telling my wife that I want to research a retirement locale that has the least wind in the US. Bomber I completely agree that it ruins a perfectly good day. Though I had someone from Cheyenne WY tell me that a calm day there was 25-30!

They always said the four elements are earth, water, fire and air. On the Great Plains, number five is wind.

I've always been kind of creeped out by the stories about pioneers going crazy in their sod houses from the incessant wind precisely because they are so plausible.

Have a friend that was telling me I need to retire back in the panhandle. I promised I would as soon as the wind stopped blowing.

I'm with you. Wind started blowing in North Texas in November and hasn't stopped since. Really effs up my fishing days.

I gave you a like, but now in retrospect, want to take it back.

It sucks the most for me, when I'm working, or standing in a tree hunting, and trying to hear what is coming down the trail.

Cheyenne has hardly any wind...over here 50 mph is a gentle breeze

Too bad it doesn't knock out your tv service. No more Hallmark Channel and boo hoo movies.

Actually, we get no more wind than Nebraska, just a bad rap. Low taxes make up for it
Which is one of the BIG reasons I'm considering a relocation there. Mrs. LHR peeked ahead on the Douglas County Assessor website a few weeks ago. Apparently, the valuation on our home has increased $80,000 for next year, which seems absurd to me. As much as I love the "Good Life", it's a really expensive state to be retired in.

This is precisely the reason we moved. State income tax, outrageous property taxes, hard to retire there

Visited there about a year and a half ago on the way to Yellowstone. You're right - I didn't notice the wind there. Hmmmm.
Sheridan is really nice but a long ways from big citiy ameneties. Cheyenne is great, only 30 min form Ft Collins and the mountains, 60k population. The people here really support the community

Cheyenne is a fun town. I enjoyed Laramie, too, as a buddy and I drove our bikes out there a few years back when Nebraska played Wyoming. But dat wind, doh. Man, was Laramie breezy. Seemed like we rode at a 30 degree lean most of the trip. My buddie was originally from Green River, and he claimed Laramie was calm compared to growing up in Green River. Smog free living, I guess.

One of the things I remember most about growing up in Nebraska. The freakin wind. I'm with ya brother, I HATE it.

And so......with my OP from last night saying that at least the wind should die down early morning, around 6 am or so, it's now almost 9:30am and the stinking wind is still going as strong as yesterday/ last night ..........

How's it going over your way @bruzer1053 & @Stepchild this morning??

Thanks, NP. Based on the wind yesterday, it makes for an easy decision to just stay inside and find other, uuuh, "pastimes" to pursue.

Like watching the final round of the Masters or a Husker ball game or baking cookies or, uh, other pursuits.......:p
