My family is making the plunge and heading back to the Good Life. Anyone have some good info on GI? Looking for a good daycare, possible sports groups to join, best area to live, etc.. All information would be great, as I've been out of NE for awhile now. Will be great to be back

My wife has had an in home DayCare for over 26 years. She usually has a list of good place for DayCare. There are some very nice areas to live. I can help you alot but it would be easier to tell you over the phone. I'll DM you my phone number.

I hear their condiment selection is outstanding.

I'm sure his advice begins with, "First, put some Sparky's on it."

Live in Kearney and commute lol

St. Paul's Lutheran Church Child Care has an excellent reputation and has a pre-school there too if that is a need. Senior High just got a 5 million donation to upgrade the football stadium, so lot's of good things happening.

Having never been in GI much, lately we've been there quite a bit for the kids' basketball and baseball. I like it, I'd live there.

Lived in GI many years ago, 78-84 and loved it. Colder than I want now that my bones are older. When we get back to GI, which is not often, the place has really changed, some say not all for the best. Never did the schools so can't comment. Wife always wanted to live in Kearney but we never made it there. Good luck with your move.

Lived in G.I. for almost twenty years. I don't any longer, but I like G.I. and would live there again. IMO, people blow the negatives about G.I. out of proportion. It's a good town, hope you and your family enjoy it.

G.I. is changing. Not for the best. Take the job, find out for yourself. Then move to Kearney. They have a great thing going, excellent job opportunities, vantastic schools, and etc.

I could go on, but you have to see for yourself.

Good luck!

GI has now exceeded 50k in the city and has a metro of 85k. Two walmarts and the retail/restraunt scene has grown exponentially over the last ten years. Some great mexican food. I like the town

Im insulted that comment was even posted.

BTW; I have have Hispanic relatives.

Kearney has less crime, and it's an overall better situation to raise a family in.

G.I. has the airport and a larger retail community. That's a plus for sure.

Both towns are fine. I would live in one over the other from my experiences.

We are all in this together.

GBR!

So do I, but I thought it was funny. I pretty sure it was directed towards you.

I've never lived in Grand Island. But I do get my news from a station that is part of the tri cities. I can tell you that I don't think I ever would live there.

If you have the opportunity in the future you would be much better served in Kearney. I lived there for 13 years and loved the atmosphere. I would never live in a town that does not have a four year university. It makes the community so vibrant.

Yep, the college definitely makes the scenery in Target more vibrant.
