Pretty awesome seeing this guy raising awareness and taking a stand against racism. Whether you agree with his or the student organization's tactics, we can ALL agree that racism is still a huge problem in this country and I'm proud to see someone from our state fighting the good fight against it.

You can count on Missouri for comic relief. There were the jail house tapes with Ricky Clemons and the MU president, then Paige Arena and now this. This is beginning to resemble the Duke LaCross scandal of a few years back. In addition to what is noted above, it has already been proved that the student body president lied about the KKK on campus. Why is there no picture or proof of the swatsticka of crap. We live in the age of camera phones where everything is recorded. Also there is no proof of other charges

I am sorry for my white priveledge. I go to work every day so the less priveleged can sit home and rest. It makes me feel better to put money in their pockets with my tax money, because I am so priveleged.
There, I was finally able to get that off my chest.

He's probably just bored. Reminds me of Van Wilder. His dad was probably gonna cut him off, better do something.

I couldn't afford grad school, damn must have missed my hall pass privlidge! My guess he went for free or daddy's dime

This black, privileged, rich 25 yr 'kid' voted for these results at least twice. His UP daddy will not have any family on obama care. Listening to Johnathan talk about taking 'precautions' during his ' hunger 'strike, leads me to surmise he was snacking the entire fiasco. Could be some real life thugs enter his life. What a phony.

I've become numb to the black race card, black racism, white guilt, the knock out game, polar bear hunting, black hoaxes, blacks killing blacks in war zone like big cities and liberal whites using blacks to further their agendas

The whole thing is funny and word is coming out that it all a Hoax. Poor rich kid lost his health care because of Obamacare and cry white privilege. Well ain't he special.

This reminds me so much of the crimes that former NU women's bball player Charlie Rogers was claiming a couple of years ago. The whole thing just smelled and I thought there was at least a 50% chance she made up the whole thing. That was proven true. My guess is this is mostly the same case here. Most people don't care if you are black or white. I'm not saying society is perfect, but I travel to Missouri all the time for family or business (I am a Nebraskan). I don't see the evidence in most areas of any racism, Ferguson not-withstanding and those were a lot of outside protesters. Would not surprise me to find out a lot of the alleged events were made up or staged. Just my opinion.

Part ignorance, part apathy, but I really don't know what's going on down there. Like, what's the big deal?

Guarantee this was more hoax then truth and Pres and Chanc jumped too quick, at least let's see if the kid was committed fully

It pains me to see so many people who would rather believe that racism is more likely to be faked by black people than to be real. It's an uncomfortable thing to admit sometimes, I get it. But it's real, and it's prevalent, and the more people who stand up against it, the better.

I think the big deal is:
This whole thing is NOT about nothing....
Do you think George Soros poured money into Ferguson and other 'protest' movements for nothing?
This is about something.... it's about "fundamental transformation".

For several of you, the best strategy would be just to admit you can't understand the concept and to not offer an opinion on it. Some kid's parents' net worth has nothing to do with what "white privilege" is. The fact that you can't even get your head around the idea that it's different for people who don't look like you even if they're rich is, amusingly enough, a perfect example of white privilege.

It's possible that this kid said something dumb or confusing, but your eagerness to turn it into some broader victory against the idea that racism is still a problem is embarrassing for you.

Racism is certainly more prevelant now. Whether perceived or real will always be a talking point. I have no problem with calling out the idiots who actually commit racist acts, and hoping they get eliminated from the gene pool.
But to make a comment like claiming his families rich background DOESN'T raise a few questions on his motives (along with the fact he has been at that school for SEVEN years).... that is just picking and choosing what you want to focus on. Both sides are guilty of that. It would be nice if some actual proof or facts were brought forward more often when these claims are made.

It's embarassing that the term "white priviledge" is being thrown around by the bleeding hearts. I would like an exact list of what priviedges I am due, and when they are coming to me. Truth is it has nothing to do with being white. The priviledge that they are upset about is the jealousy they have towards those born into money. Not all of us raciat white folk are born into loads of money. To put that White label on it is ignorant and racist in itself.

I have plenty of non white friends from all walks of life, what we have in common is a desire to succeed. I support those that want to earn it which if each of us had to do. I hate all that don't have that drive and desire. Don't sit on your ass, you have the chance to educate yourself and make your own path. White privlidge is pretty much bs except for the top .05%. You want to work for me you better have passion, desire and commitment and I could give a shit if you are pink skin or whatever color. Stop crying! Yes there are racists, but on both sides and it disgusts me. Judge a person by how they live not by what they feel entitled to.

Racism is a huge problem. What those students and faculty members did to the white president was nothing short of disgraceful.

But yet because you are white, it is your fault. The fact that you deny it is proof of your white priviledge. Duh!!!

Just to keep track, in a thread about "white priveledge", the first thing you bring up is that you pay taxes so "less privileged can sit home and rest."

What do you think that says about your perception of black people?

Question: With 7 billion people on this blue marble and few if any of them able to agree 100% on a definition of racism, what do you think the odds are racism (a.k.a. hurt feelings) will be erased? Part of becoming a grown-up is realizing you live in an imperfect world, where demanding everyone conform to your opinion is the definition of irrational thought.

Here you go, this should be easy: Don't treat people badly because of their race. As for your last sentence, be a grown up then. Your opinion is that they should just deal with racism, they disagree.

Its not my perception. It is the perception of my white priviledge. Since I am more priviledged than all blacks, simply by being white, then they are all mooching off me. Every single one of them. That makes a lot of sense, doesn't it. Thank you for proving my point. Just because I am white, I am racist, and I am priviledged. What a load of crap.

There is really nothing left to accomplish. If you cannot make it in this country the fault lies with you. This is the land of opportunity for those who are willing to earn it, work hard and never give up.

These kids want desperately to be part of a civil rights movement but sadly they don't realize they are pawns, slaves to new masters who manipulate them and use them for political means. The chains of hate and ignorance will never liberate but rather eat away at and destroy all who let it seep into their hearts and minds.
