Fred Beile, former Doane College coach, passed away late last night or during the early morning hours. Fred built a track dynasty while at Doane that is hard to match. The stories of Fred are legendary within the Doane Track circles.
My heart goes out to his family and all the coaches and athletes he was involved with over the years.
As seems fitting, yesterday was the GPAC conference indoor meet. Fred lived long enough to find out the Men and Women swept the team titles. I believe the women have now won the meet 27 out of the last 28 years. The men also have a pretty impressive streak going.
