On brand. The “military-industrial complex” was popularized by Eisenhower in 1961. Vatican II, which moved the Catholic service away from the use of Latin, and more towards spoken language, concluded in 1965.
My phone says it’s 2024. Maybe someday the current nostalgic turn towards the era of Jim Crow, authoritarian leaders, and Russia constantly being allowed to expand and suppress fledgling democracies (Hungary 1956, Prague 1968) will come to an end. Can’t happen soon enough.

Every time the US helps a fledgling democracy, It is not because of the “military industrial compPlex”. Being worried about the military industrial complex would’ve been helpful To avoid Vietnam, was not helpful for the Hungarians, the Czechoslovakians, or for those Trying to avoid Putin’s sticky fingers.
The Catholic Church decided to go away from the Latin mass, because the church wanted To connect with parishioners by Speaking in a language, they could understand. Personally, I think that’s a good thing.
I get that the kicker wanted to emphasize the role of women as childbearers, and keepers of the household. I don’t think that’s any of his damn business, or my damn business.
That’s a husband and wife’s business, worked out between the two of them, and between what the two of them think is best for their family.
