OT---Elevated roundabout-Warlick-14th-Old Cheney...

Got a lot of family near there. That will be awesome! That will be chaos for months after it opens, because a certain precentage will be so confused! Laughing

My mom couldn't maneuver the 3 lane roundabout on Superior before it was bumped to 2 lanes. This will be a nightmare for her.
My mom can't handle the two lane even. Lol. My parents live in the Highlands so they use that roundabout a lot. My 83 year old dad THINKS he knows how to negotiate it, but he can't, which makes him even more dangerous than my mom.

Plus, my dad was a firefighter in Lincoln and in his early years drove Engine 2 in downtown Lincoln. He still drives like he has sirens and lights, thinking he owns the road

I don't design streets for a living so maybe I'm way off base here, but I always thought the city of Lincoln did a poor job laying out their streets. It always seemed to me like they had no idea they were ever going to expand and grow and that traffic would never increase.

Same with Omaha. It must be a Nebraska thing.

I have a feeling most cities did not plan accordingly, but I find traffic signalling to be the most confounding.

AHHH Yes! The impressive work of our government coordinating projects, oh wait, no they aren't. This is comical. The work beginning Monday is the state just working on Warlick. Then, two years after that is completed they will start on the round about. So look for this thing to be completed no sooner than 2024.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) The state will begin the major reconstruction of Warlick Boulevard next week. The $7.7 million project is expected to be completed next year, and two years later, the city will begin their major project for the area: a two-tiered round about.

"It is a little silly that they're going to repair the intersection that they're going to tear up for the new intersection," said Roy Miller who lives and works in the area.

The projects are separate. The state owns Warlick and is focusing on repairs. The city's focus is on relieving traffic congestion, which has been a problem in the area for quite some time. Their round-about project is estimated to cost $24 million, but the design is still being completed.

Business owners like Rajit Singh have concerns with how it affects their bottom line.

Singh said, "I don't have alot of walk in traffic. I have alot of driving traffic."

"99% or 100% of my business is driving traffic, so that's a big concern. If you can't have customers come in your store, i don't know what we're gonna do," he added. If traffic slows due to the construction, businesses like Singh's may suffer.

" I might worry about closing do we if i can't pay my bills. What are we going to do? The city's not going to pay my bills are they? I don't think so," said Signh.

People who live in the area are concerned about the everyday commutes, and how they might be affected.

'For us here, the biggest problem is going to be getting out of the neighborhood. Going to work, going to school, going to the store, so that's going to be a problem," said Miller.

Despite the city's public hearing, some people who have been following the developments feel that the decisions have already been made.

"It looks like the city has decided what they want to do, and i disagree with it," said Signh.

Or my favorite..the idiot who barrels into the roundabout without stopping and t bones the car already in the roundabout because they don't know how to negotiate a roundabout.

In the words of Crew Chief Harry from Days of Thunder, "Rubbing is racing son!"

Dynamite idea taking another option to get to Highway 77 off the map. The reason that intersection sucks so much is because it is so busy from people trying to get to highway 77. And now you will no longer be able to do that on Old Cheney.

They work great and improve the flow of traffic better than lights. Too many people just don't know how to drive them.
Meh I have seen some really good roads ruined by roundabouts. Not going to argue with you about it but I would like to see statistics on time saved/wasted and accident vs cost of construction.

Some peoples heads are going to pop like zits when they first come on to this roundabout. Eek
Can't wait to watch the show.
