This is getting locked shortly. LOL, but I love it.
It's funny how people think they are getting a conservative. Look at federal spending under the previous administration. It's insane. In addition to setting a precedent for blindly handing out "free" money from the federal government.

my daughter and my two grandkids came over from pasadena just below the fire ,they were ordered to leave the house, watched the fire on tv until 4:am then the wind shifted away from their house possibly saving it. only then did we all go to sleep.the wind was intense,i live close to griffith park ,the wind reminded me of a small tornado i witnessed in my youth back in western nebraska in my 68 years i've been in california i never have seen destruction like this.

The US government sucks
Let the people take care of themselves
LOL because that has worked so well in the past. It's called the Articles of Confederation. Look it up.

Also lots of issues with " I am my brothers keeper." type of thinking. It theory great.... in practice not so much.

I agree that the government has gotten too handsy but some of that is our own doing, when individuals decide to F things up.

Kind of like drunk driving. Most people can drive just find after a few drinks. But some ahole killed someone else on the HW with a BA level of .08 and wham we all have to pay for it. That's how society works. We are constantly paying for the actions of a few in the name of, "good for all"

Best explanation I've seen for it.... "This person pisses off the people that piss me off." The rest are just talking points.

Don’t really care but the analogy you used in the end of your post is terrible. Terrible mode of thinking

Do you enjoy living in California? I was there two summers ago and thought it was beautiful. California gets a bad rap around these parts so I always wonder what actual Californians think about their state.

Ok. I can use lots of analogies but they all would have to do with Individuals dicking it up for others. Sorry but no society can function solely on the belief that everyone can take care of themselves. It's not reality.

While its true we are spending money.... we are also making shit loads. Don't kid yourself, The US doesn't do anything without getting something in return on the global stage. I know that this is all a giant political talking piece, the reality is US Companies and the fed are making hay.

  1. 1. Defense and Weapons Manufacturing

The largest financial beneficiaries of the Ukraine war are U.S. defense contractors due to increased arms production and sales. For example:
    • Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Technologies: Major suppliers of systems like Javelin missiles, HIMARS rocket launchers, and Stinger missiles have reported increased revenues due to orders from the U.S. government to support Ukraine.
      • Lockheed Martin saw revenue growth in its missiles and fire control division, with contracts awarded for replenishing U.S. and allied stockpiles.
      • Raytheon Technologies benefited from missile production and defense-related services.
    • Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and General Dynamics: These companies also experienced revenue increases tied to military assistance programs.

    Estimates:

    • The U.S. government has committed over $40 billion in military aid to Ukraine, a significant portion of which is spent on procurement from U.S. defense contractors.

    2. Energy Companies

The war has reshaped global energy markets, with the U.S. stepping in as a key supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe, replacing Russian gas.
    • LNG Exporters:
      • Cheniere Energy and Tellurian Inc. have seen higher revenues due to increased exports to Europe at elevated prices.
      • The U.S. became the world's largest LNG exporter in 2022, partly due to the Ukraine conflict.
    • Oil and Gas Companies:
      • Companies like ExxonMobil, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips benefited from higher oil prices in 2022, driven by global supply disruptions.

    Estimates:

    • The energy sector reported record profits in 2022, with some companies attributing a portion of their gains to the reshaped global energy market caused by the war.

    3. Agricultural and Commodities Companies

The war disrupted global grain exports, increasing prices for wheat, corn, and other staples. U.S. agricultural companies gained from:
    • Higher export volumes to countries that previously relied on Ukrainian or Russian grains.
    • Rising prices boosting profit margins.

    Key Beneficiaries:

    • Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and Cargill: Major agribusinesses reported revenue growth due to increased global demand.

    4. Cybersecurity Firms

The war spurred heightened awareness of cybersecurity risks, especially with increased Russian cyber activity targeting Ukraine and NATO allies. This led to:
    • Increased spending on cybersecurity services by governments and corporations.
    • Boosted revenues for companies like Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, and FireEye.

    5. Reconstruction and Development Firms (Future Earnings)

While profits from reconstruction efforts in Ukraine are not yet realized, U.S. engineering, construction, and logistics companies may see significant opportunities in rebuilding Ukraine once the war ends. Firms specializing in infrastructure development and project management, like Bechtel, are expected to be involved.

    Overall Financial Impact

While specific dollar amounts vary by company and industry, analysts estimate that U.S. companies in defense, energy, agriculture, and cybersecurity have collectively gained tens of billions of dollars due to the war. Defense contractors alone are seeing multi-billion-dollar boosts due to increased government spending on weapons and munitions.
However, exact figures are difficult to pinpoint due to the complexities of global markets, indirect impacts, and the interplay of other factors like inflation and post-COVID-19 economic recovery.

Are you aware that Elon was in this country on a student visa but didn't go to school? That makes him an illegal, right?
Don't be hating. You had him on your team. But drove him right onto the winning team. Going to be a glorious 4 to 12 years. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.👈😌

LOL. Elon is on his own team and all for himself. He hitched a ride on the Trump train and took over as engineer. Going to be about as fun to watch as January 6th was.

Still clinging to Jan 6th. Funny stuff. Liberal tears are so salty and sweet. Like pineapple on pizza.😍😪
LOL. I guess if you were ok with Jan 6. Then more power to ya. I would think any American would be ashamed and embarrassed by that day. But then again I know who "your guy" is so I'm not surprised. And with this Im out of this convo before we both get Alcatrazed.

Are you talking about helping others with disaster relief? You do realize that not all people affected by disaster own homes right?

I don't know where all of the dollars go, but Im sure it's not just for replacing someone's home.

I have more of a problem with my tax dollars funding large corporate subsidies then I do helping a fellow American out who's experiencing a disaster not of their own doing.

People in NC still living in tents. I wouldn't count on the federal morons for shit.
I had a friend who had a basement get flooded and was eligible for FEMA “assistance”. After hours of paper work and months of waiting they reimbursed him about 2% of his loss.

Tax credits for wind towers is my pet peeve. They aren’t saving the environment or reducing carbon emissions when you consider the impacts of mining the rare earth materials for the generation equipment, energy and materials used in manufacturing, carbon fuels used in transportation and erection and the hundreds of gallon of oil it takes to lubricate the turbines every year.

All they are is a way to line the pockets of wealthy investors who get the tax credits. I’ll give a couple of guesses at who a few of those people are.

That’s what homeowners insurance is for.

Because people won't be able to get insurance at any price at some point. Companies will pull out, nobody will replace them. I don't think we want everyone moving away from all the coasts and cramming themselves into the middle of the country do we? ..and even then tornadoes can get ya.. I'm OK helping out our fellow Americans, it isn't their fault if mother nature throws a tantrum from time to time.....and don't we want people insured, chaos would reign if they weren't...parts of the country would look like a third world country if ins wasn't there ro bail people out after a chastrophic event. Families would be ruined. Homelessness thru the roof.

So I should cancel my insurance and let the government bail me out

I did not say that.

I don't claim to have the perfect solution or all the anwers. I am however, suggesting its OK fo help out our fellow Americans in times of extreme need...a rising tide lifts all boats.

As a claim adjuster for the last 20 years, I see first hand people struggle after a loss..a loss they had nothing to do with sometimes. Take away tbe ability for them to he insured, America would go to complete and total shit, fast. You think it wom't affect you? Think again.

Teams. Lol

People like you stand for people, not values. These people flip flop what they believe in to make a buck. And people like you eat it up. It's funny to watch you slobber all over a person who is in this country illegally, who used to support the party you hate, and who has a transgender kid who he signed paperwork to become a different gender. Did I mention he runs an ev company, which you are normally against? You can't make this up.
