Missed the anniversary the other day, released 35 years ago (June 15, 1988).

"Man, that ball got outta here in a hurry."

"Okay, well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern. Okay, let's get two! Go get 'em."

I get the criticism that it’s just a RomCom disguised as a baseball movie, but I still enjoyed it. The late Trey Wilson was great as the manager:

“You get to keep comin’ to the ballpark, and you keep gettin’ paid for it. Beats the Hell outta workin’ at Sears.”

And yes, Bull Durham is a bit cheesy at times. but it works.

Mount Rushmore baseball movie for me.
Major League
Bull Durham
The Natural
Field of Dreams

The Sandlot is on deck.
#1 - Pride of the Yankees (Lou Gehrig Story)
The Sandlot
Major League
Field of Dreams
The Natural
#6 Bull Durham

Walter Matthau is so great in Bad News Bears, but I don't think it touches those 6

Money Ball is solid too

This the order for me

The movie has a lot of funny lines, situations, etc. The part I always enjoyed the most was towards the end when Crash gets cut and he finally realizes that he's at the end of his career and he just wants to finish the season, somewhere. If you've ever played the game after legion ball, maybe small college, town team, whatever, you finally get to that point when you know it's over, time to hang it up and that can be sobering for some.

Walking away on your terms, I think it would be better long term than having to hang it because of injury.

I'm surprised no one has said Summer Catch.

😆
Not a great movie, but I enjoyed it. I’ve seen worse for sure.

And let’s not forget The Benchwarmers while we’re talking cinematic masterpieces.

And the ‘Facing Nolan’ movie about some guy from South Dakota who hit .500 and 40 HRs off of the great Nolan Ryan

Fell in love with Tatum O'neal in BNB's. She grew up to be a crazee!!! Didn't quell my devotion to her though.
