I have played a few of the gems in Nebraska. Quarry Oaks, Iron Horse, Wild Horse, Bayside, Oak Hill, Players Club and few other notables from out in western Nebraska.

However, I just played Edgewood at Lake Tahoe yesterday and I have to say there is not a course even close that I have played that is even in the same ball park! If you ever get a chance it is definitely worth it! You will not find a more scenic course anywhere and it is REALLY well kept. I also got heckled at Hole 17 just like the celebrities do at the American Century Classic.

if anyone here ever played Field of Greens in Council Bluffs(now Bent Tree)…

IYKYK
Bent Tree is great! I wish they would finally put GPS on the carts, maybe they do have it now...I have not been out there in over a year.

We used to play that course a lot, great views, super hard. That one hole, Par 5, with the 100 yard elevated tee box is ****ing amazing.

Arbor Links is my favorite but it is private now which totally sucks. Back in the day they used to do 100 dollars for all you could golf in a day. Me and my friends, this was back when we were all single and kidless, before we all made the horrifying mistake of marriage and kids, we would get out there, it is in Nebraska City, at 7am, play 18, grab some lunch and more beers, go play another 18, grab some more beers and play a 9 hole scramble.

Drive back to Omaha, totally worn out and then grab some more beers.

I miss those days.

SandHills

have had the opportunity to play many top 100 courses and none come close

@BTF69

I was in college at the time and working at a gas station.

I’d have two of my boys come up and “buy” an 18-pack of Michelob Light cans(man I miss that beer) from me for like $1.89.

We’d blast over to CB and play absolutely horrendous golf on carts that had zero governor in like 2 1/2 hours for $15 each. It was beautiful.

Then we wouldn’t get laid that night as usual.

Sutton Bay. Maybe not the best but easily the most beautiful.

Man, I was a MASTER at not getting laid.

We would always sneak beers on the course too, **** those course prices!

I played this weekend and we brought some tall boys and shooters. Good times.

I LOVE that price your friends got on those 18 packs! Ha

everybody I’ve known who has golfed at Sandhills raves about it. maybe the nicest course I’ve played 20+ years ago was Osprey Ridge in Orlando. At least that day it was beautifully manicured, lots of flowers, built around a pretty lagoon etc. I don’t remember much of that round other than how pretty the couse was.

I had a tee time at Harbour Town about that same time and backed out when I found a sea side course for a third the cost. I’m trying to talk a buddy and our wives in to going out to stay and golf at Pebble Beach. I haven’t swung a club for over 2 years but I would still pay to golf there once it’s crazy expensive but it’s one of those bucket list deals.

I played Sand Hills many years ago and I understand the appeal. But I grew up in those elements, so my most memorable golf experiences were elsewhere.

One of the best was on Hecla Island in Manitoba, a couple hours north of Winnipeg. It was an unseasonably warm day in October and I had the whole place to myself - just amazing. Also got to play Glen Abbey near Toronto years ago, a Nicklaus course that often hosts the Canadian Open.

If you are ever visiting the Black Hills, be sure to play Spearfish Canyon. A hidden gem for sure.

Heading out to Wild Horse this coming week, looking forward playing 2 rounds out there..

Thumper Pound by Otter Tail lake in Minnesota is really nice and challenging and picturess.

I enjoy Iron Horse but the best bang for your buck course in Omaha is Johnny Goodman, most challenging greens you’ll ever want to play.

Elmwood Park in Omaha. Of course its a $hit place. But I shoot a respectable score there, so its the best course I've ever played.

Wild Horse is a nice course. Try to tee off as early as possible - get as many holes in as you can before the wind has the flagsticks leaning at 45 degrees.

Anyone play Quarry Oaks since it has reopened?

For the price, I am not sure if I will bother going to play it anymore.

Whistling Straits was a gorgeous course.

Landman is awesome and a little nostalgic for a farm boy.

Have some buddies that got a tee time next month 4 months ago.

Can’t image them getting $150 a round in another year or two.

my favorite Blackhills course I’ve played was Tomahawk. I haven’t played it in over 25 years. Had to wait for Elk to clear in front of us. Back then it was 9 holes and you couldn’t see any other golfers unless they were on your same hole. Beautiful natural landscape. Played Spearfish Canyon once about 25 years ago. One of my friends retired out there 2 years ago and bought a home butted up to one of the greens

Oh shit, it is that booked up???

I used to go play there once a summer or so, then it got up to 100 dollars a round and we played it less and less, Iron Horse started to make the rotation.

I think Indian Creek is over 80 now.

Indian is $84 during the week and $92 weekends and Holidays.

$64 for Seniors.

It’s a public course so the condition of the course isn’t always the best but the view from most of the holes is something you’ll never forget.
Was in great condition when I played it, definitely a bucket list course.

I worked at a course when I was a kid. Probably one of the best jobs I have ever had. I worked the grounds, it was me and another high school friend and 3 super old retired dudes and two full time guys.

It never felt like work. Those summers were the best.

A co-worker and I were deployed from Wakefield, NE to Denver to convert a Company acquired poultry laying facility into the "modern" computer & electrical technology of late 1990's. Our 2nd deployment was with a truck because of tool & material requirements so we brought our amateur sticks with us. I cannot remember the name of the course we decided on for our golf expedition, but she was brutal. I remember landing in a green side bunker that was like pitching out of a dumpster with 6" of sand on the bottom. Our scoring was also brutal, but it was a beautiful course with mountains not far away.

Wildhorse.

Designed and built by the crew that built Sandhills for Coore and Crenshaw.

Was better though when you couldn't see any houses.

Have two of the horseshoe tee markers in my landscaping at home. Somehow they found their way into my bag years ago.

Landman is all hype and no substance for anyone but nostalgic farm boys. I have not golfed on her but have visited her development. She would be more charming with rolls of hay and stock cows or buffalo freely ranging the course.
