My kid was recently diagnosed with Type 1. I have two nephews with it, but other than that it hasn't been in the families (mine, in-laws, etc.) at all. My boy is 8.
The little dude is taking it like a champ, though. He gets stuck 8-12 times a day with various needles and has complained barely at all which definitely makes it easier on us.
Anyway, we have him in a camp for diabetic children already for this summer. Any other advice for adjusting would be awesome.
Oh, and he loves the Huskers.
GBR!
