OT Any drummers out there?

My son's 13th birthday is Monday. He really wants to take drum lessons. He has been playing the piano for about 5 years now.

I would like to get him a drum set for his birthday, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg, in case he doesn't take to it. Because it is his birthday, I'd like to get him something new.

Any advice? How much am I going to have to spend?
