Osbornian effort last night

Missed the game, sounds like it was pretty boring... But man, gotta love the end result. :)

Yes it did. Although, I got a different take out of it. I felt it meant that the coaching staff would call plays to the strength of the personnel they had available and the opponents they were playing.

Wyoming will have to be very different. Let them stick around at half time and they won't wilt like Fresno

Agreed but Wyoming will try and pond the Rock and not be so pass happy as Fresno St was..

Bohl also has a very young team that we need to jump on them very fast and should win convincingly like by 21 points if we don't give them any help.

That's fine with me. We flowed and tackled well against the run.

Yah, the way our LB's and the Williams twins were flying around, I think we can handle what Wyoming will present us.

The Williams' aren't twins. According to the roster info on Huskers.com, there are three players named Williams and not a shared parent among them.

I was a little surprised with how little they threw, but I certainly wasn't mad. Even in those 10 attempts there were some decisions that were a bit "off the leash" such as the throw in the general direction of Westy on 3rd down. He still almost made an insane catch off a tip, but that wasn't the route that should be thrown in that situation.

I don't think anyone should expect (or want) to pass as few as 13 times per game, especially against the likes of Fresno State. The players need real-game reps and the coaches need real-game views of these passes to know what needs coaching, what plays can be counted on, etc.

If simply pounding the rock is the cure, why don't NFL teams do it? The answer is because there isn't as much physical disparity in the NFL for one team to out-punish another team. It happens on occasion, but it is the exception more than the rule.

This is also the case when it comes to playing other top-tier opponents. You can't expect Nebraska to push around Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, etc. And that is why having a complimentary passing game is required. I'm not suggesting a full-on NFL passing attack, but I am suggesting a sophisticated passing attack when a) the team falls behind and needs points and b) to keep the opponent's defense honest.

If you're going to run the ball...you have to set that tone.......you have to be able to run the ball to beat those teams you mentioned....that was obvious in the results against MSU and UCLA last year.

We through for over 3000 yards last year. The passing game will be fine

Exactly - New Oline that needs to build confidence nothing like runnig the ball to do that. It also sets a tone that this team is going to be physical and not pass at the first sign of trouble. This also gives opposing teams pause on what we will do. Of course we are going to pass opour WR's corp is the strength of our offense but only if the running game is viable

We did what we needed to against Fresno. Didn't panic and pounded them instead of forcing costly turnovers. Of course we will have to pass more this season and we will, let's just hope it's somewhere between our 13 and average of 35. 24 sounds good for an average. Let tommy run, too.
As far as the NFL, plenty of teams run it again and again when it's working.

I think Langsdorf has really got to hate Nebraska by now. 'You pass too much!' Now it's 'You don't pass enough!' RollingLaugh The life of a coach.

What's funny is if you listened to Langsdorf, he sounded as if he was afraid to pass the ball because the passing game was so out of synch..
