Oregon State

Turned them around from what? They sucked with Riley...they suck now.
I don’t get it. Anderson turned Utah State around and maintained Wisconsin’s success winning he west his second year there...

He’s obviously a good coach to win at other places. That good coaching should automatically make Oregon State a winning program.

We’ve heard ALL THE TIME how Riley sucked at Oregon State and will suck here too, even before he coached a game. So why hasn’t he even come close, with his pedigree, to even getting close to what Riley was able to accomplish at Oregon State?

Maybe, just maybe, winning at Oregon State is harder than what some of you chumps realize?

But a good coach should have them winning and in contention for conference championships by now shouldn't he? Or are you one of those excuse guys?

Wrong! A good coach takes 5 years to get back to where his fired, disgraced predecessor who couldn’t recruit was.

You can never give a coach without any hardware 5 years. That's absurd. Two years and a handful of games is more than enough. We're Nebraska.

When you hire a career .500 guy, you have to expect .500 seasons. As long as he stays between 5-7 and 7-5 he can stay as long as he wants. Well....if he doesn’t get that old age mean guy syndrome.

We should just be happy our coach doesn’t say cuss words anymore. That was the real embarrassment.

Flipping ridiculous, regardless who the coach is. And people wonder why Nebraska "fans" are laughed at coast to coast.

I know. Expecting to win games at a traditional top 10 programs is ridiculous. That is what really gets other fans laughing. Not losing to NIU. Not getting blown out 62-3. Not losing to 2-10 Purdue or having dogfights with Arkansas State and Rutgers.

I simply pointed out a fact. Andersen truly took on a rebuilding program unlike the fake one we pretend Riley inherited.
Riley had to rebuild a lot. Look at how many freshman and sophomores we have starting or playing significant roles in year 3.

That isn't what I said. Losing to Northern Illinois is an embarrassment, period, end of any straw-man bullshit response you have next. 62-3 isn't the first time Nenraksa got their ass kicked in the last 5 years and it won't be the last time either. An ass whooping of epic proportion will happen again. Just like it did under Solich, Callahan, Pelini and Riley.

Ya, dog fights with McNeese flipping State is totally acceptable.

GTFO me with your crap.

Pulling my hair out... again, why is a coach with a 60% winning record only winning 25% at Oregon State right now? Huh?

I am disagreeing with you over why we are laughed at. They don’t laugh at us when we fire a loser. They laugh at us for losing.

Isn't Frost 19-16 (.543) at UCF?

I remember the days when folks on here wanted proven head coaches with hardware. Oh my, how the times have changed...

Why do Frost and Anderson keep getting compared? One took over a program in amazing shape and the other took over an 0-12 team.

One improved and the other declined. Give me the coaches on the upslope any day.

Central Florida, weird you mention one season but not a program.

Here's why...

2015: 0-12
2014: 9-4, conference champs
2013: 12-1, conference champs, BCS bowl win
2012: 9-4, division champs
2011: 5-7
2010: 11-3, conference champs

UCF was in a hell of a lot better shape than some of you people want to give them credit for.

When did that happen? We have never fired a coach after two seasons

I didn't say we did. Read, Mary Pat.

not giving coaches more than a season or two.

Are you denying this?!?! I'll dig up posts, with a large wager involved.

Riley is 64. Has never won a championship of any kind. Nuff said.

I repeat when did we fire a coach two seasons Callahan had 4

Never mind not worth carry on with whatever it is you are doing

It is not THE fans that get laughed at...it is certain fans. The ones that try and "educate" opposing fans.

It's Andersen not Anderson. He was 26-24 at Utah State. Utah State is not even a power in the Mountain West. He was 19-7 at Wisconsin. Not bad, but not fantastic. He had that terrible loss in Tempe where he just as badly as the officials mismanaged the final 17 seconds or so to eliminate a chip shot FG for the win. I thought is was pretty odd he left Madison for Corvallis. I think it is very hard to win with the Beavers. It isn't going to get easier as the Pac 12 North has some good teams. I just don't know how good of a coach Andersen is. I think his stay at Wisconsin was too short to know. Chryst has been able to win there with what Andersen left behind.

PS I bet very few of you watched the Cougs beat USC after the Husker win last Friday night. Leech's team is fun to watch. He's still crazy but I think he is playing more straight up with this team than he has in the past. He actually punted away and kicked FGs. He always went for it in the past.

Sorry, Andersen.

That’s why I said turned around Utah State. His first 2 years were 4-8, with a 5-11 mark in conference. Year 3 was 7-6 and then 11-2 his 4th year, with an 11-2 conference record. That’s a significant turnaround in 4 years imo.

And while at Wisconsin he maintained the program. My point was simply that Riley isn’t as bad of a coach as many would suggest. Andersen really showed he could coach, but hasn’t done squat at Oregon State.

To the crowd who says once .500 always .500, why hasn’t Andersen, a .600 coach, gotten close to that? He is .250, and headed in the wrong direction.

Maybe Andersen could recruit to Utah St. Maybe the issue is he can’t recruit to Oregon State. Who knows?

I thought Andersen would be a good coach for OSU but the wheels have come completely off and there is major dysfunction though out that staff. Looking back on it maybe Wells was his Chris Peterson at Utah State and at Wisconsin it really doesn't matter who is coaching there as Barry is the real power. There were some strange things that happened at Wisc also but they did have a great line and Gordon to fall back on.

Riley did a good overall job at OSU however the last couple of years he had taken a nose dive for whatever reason. I believe it was more a case the conference as a whole just got tougher much like the Big10 as a whole is getting tougher

Again just for the sake of pointing out factual inaccuracies. Utah St was in the WAC when Andersen coached there. He finished 2nd and 1st in his last two years in that league. He won a west division title in the B1G. Matt Wells has the Utah St in decline. No offense to Wells but he is no Chris Peterson.

You are right, Utah State was in the WAC when Andersen was coaching there. Wells is certainly not Chris PeterSEN and he isn't even Andersen. (I am bald. Why do bald coaches wear visors? see Wells. Dana at WV and the new kid at OU is losing his scalp too. I hate for my dome to get sunburned)
