Put what you think it is and why.

Then put what level is your expectation for a Nebraska coach.

Hard to see it now, but i believe in what Rhule is selling and the culture he is building will be a contender on the national stage. He shows he’s adaptable to different situations, humble and strong in his convictions. He knows how to build a program better than anyone on this board (unless TO is frequenting the boards) and drives his process. He immediately accepted ownership of the team and the players.

We’ve got some young talent - we build next year (I predict 10 wins if we get a stud qb 7-8 with a developed Purdy/HH) and then recruits take notice and the snowball builds until we are rolling with the big dogs.

This year sucked, but will not be the lasting memory nor will it be carved into the statue of him outside the stadium many moons from now.

if he keeps Satterfield his ceiling will be 6-8 wins, max, that’s with a decent QB

So that would be my view until Satterfield is canned. I hope I am somehow wrong on Satterfield, I really do.

Problem is, we can already see that White won’t be here 3 years from now… so could be a bumpy ride.

I voted 10-12 wins and a conf championship. He was able to do this at Baylor.. so hoping he can do it again

Wish he would have given us more data. But 10-12 wins seems accurate. He’s gonna be here for a few years. I wasn’t impressed this year but again, we need to give him a little grace. However, we were still at the bottom of power 5 football

Not sure how anyone can have a real educated opinion on this? How could anyone know what Rhule’s ceiling is as a coach at this point? So picked national champion cause… why the fvck not? 🤷‍♂️

He can be an annual conference championship contender, and that’s my expectation for this program.

Not for some unrealistic return to the 90s. Not to become Alabama and play in the title game every year. But contend for conference championships regularly? Yes. To win the Big Ten at least once or twice a decade? Yes.

From there, winning a P5 conference often goes hand in hand with a national title run. Not always, but sometimes. And if we’re good enough to make it to the playoffs, I think we’ll have as good a chance as any to win it. It would take an exceptional team, and maybe a bit of luck with the way the scheduling falls. But it is not impossible.

We’ve been to the mountaintop before, and we can get there again. Unlike certain programs, we shouldn’t be satisfied with any whothehellcares.com bowl appearance and assume a self-imposed ceiling that we’ve already broken through multiple times.

Of course, here’s the standard disclaimer: would we love to be in a bowl game of any kind this year? Sure. But that—in and of itself—is not where the AD should set his goals. Not here, not ever.

Contending for conference championships will eventually lead us to bigger and better things. I think Matt Rhule can get us to that level, and given time, I think he has the right mindset and approach to take us further. I know all about hype and Kool Aid, but listen to the guy talk and see how he approaches his practices; this isn’t a guy who’s going to be content with squeaking out 6 wins and playing a bowl game on a blue field in December. He expects more, and so should we.

Went 10-2 and or playoffs because I think the defense will keep trending upwards overall, staying in the 15-25 range. The offense will improve with a better line and QB play next year and beyond.

The speed of the team will keep getting better and the team will get more explosive on the lines to change the LOS.

Once a bowl game is secured next year, the NIL help will get much bigger as wel to help find the talent for that truly next level of success.

What more do you need to have an opinion? I think we have quite the sample size to make a guess.
This a message board.

I feel like this year they pivoted on offense with the tools they had at their disposal.

Sims - didn’t stick with him - even though he hyped him HUGE preseason. Takes a big man to eat crow.

Once HH was in - started trying to implement option (likely zero work in spring and fall camp) due to personnel.

Battled through injuries with “next man up” even though some of those men had to switch positions.

Feel like he has been more willing to move pieces (sometimes out of necessity) to give us the best chance to compete.

Not a rhule thing. More a Nebraska thing. 10 wins might be as good as we can ever expect again.

Depends on who he hires on the offensive staff
This.

He commented about his good D teams but middle of the pack offenses. Is he going to be willing to fire coaches and upgrade when he gets thr opportunity. Or is he going to be loyal to a fault?

The unknown is he has never stayed anywhere long enough to show any kind of consistency, especially long term. So hiw do we know?

Recruiting is good but not great, way too many 2* kids offered and committed. Why? Especially when you as re well over the limit?

As far as I can tell the 2* are rare and they are really good athletes like Lloyd. The guy gets some leeway with me on recruiting when he says he wants track guys and offers Lloyd his first day on the job. Lloyd's next best offer was UND. I think the other 2* last year from Texas is a cb and he might be slightly faster than Lloyd.

That is high reward recruiting and pretty low risk IMO. You start developing players who can run track anywhere in the country and you start causing major matchup problems.

Pretty sure Lloyd was a 3 star, but the lowest level at 5.5. I'm all for the speed if they at least have a little size, but there are way too many guys with 0 to 1 other power 5 offers. I think my last count was 10, and it should be 5 or less. I'm okay with it if they are in-state guys that at least have multiple FBS offers.

With Satt, I think 8-10 wins. If he goes out and hires the best OCs he can find like Saban does, who knows, if recruiting naturally gets better with winning.

I think he can get 10 wins at Nebraska. He's done it at a couple places and those rises were almost a mirror image of each other.

He's on borrowed time with White it seems having only one year here and getting interest, so I hope he has his radar on regarding coaches as well as players. Tons of things to look out for nowadays in order to make the players and coaches' stars align regarding transfer portal, NIL, ect. ect., so that you have it all, and this is tough for teams placed in recruiting hotbeds.

I agree. It is not the old days where a Tom Osborne, Berry Switzer or a Joe Paterno can keep the same old assistant coaches forever despite their flaws. Hell, even Nick Saban has learned to evolve. He will bring in a coach immediately if he thinks it will help him win. Today, there are no more 3-year windows. It is win now or go home.

He is listed as a 3 star but I wonder if that is one of those deals where he received a magical bump after committing and they "reviewed" his film. Kind of odd for a 3 star to only have 2 FCS offers, not overwhelming FCS offers either. That basically means no one, including, NDSU, SDSU, Mickey, etc thought Lloyd was a football player.

Rhule watched film while unemployed and offered him his first day. And he was playing game 1 and catching bombs by the middle of the season. That is very impressive to me.

So I'll trust his evaluation skills on lower rated guys until he gives me a reason not to.
