One of those deals where the guy has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Nothing to see here.
Not sure Miles will make the tourney, let alone the final four, ohhh....you mean the *COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF*.
People need to stop interchanging sporting event titles. Nebraska football won't be attending the Final Four, just like they won't be in the Kentucky Derby, Super Bowl, or Daytona 500.

Jeeeez. It's one thing to say "seems like a long shot" but the number of fans who have become so scarred to the point where we talk about cocaine and no way in hell, is a little depressing. Lighten up. Be a fan. I don't think it's highly likely, but I do hold out hope deep inside that if they get past Oregon early, momentum could grow and anything is possible.
Hey, if Iowa was a whisker away from the playoffs last year Nebraska surely has a shot! Come on.....the Big 10 title is very winnable this year. Bunch of glass half empty weenies on here!
these prognostications are about predicting what you think is MOST PROBABLE not what is possible -- yes anything is possible - it is possible Nebraska wins the national championship but highly improbable
if the over/under on wins this season was set at 11 and you had to wager 2 months salary - almost everyone (even those predicting 11 or 12 wins) would bet the under

I think I bet like $2.50 at 100 to 1 on neb to win it all just for my amusement. The schedule makes it at least possible, but to call for it seems downright silly.
I still think we can do it. I realize its highly unlikely but the hope is there. We have to improve and build throughout the season. I know there are a lot of ifs but what if.....
The coaches call plays to give Tommy the max chance for success, he plays well and takes care of the ball?
Hahn or Whitaker plays well, I think our OL has a chance to be very good?
Our interior DL plays well, the twins provide excellent depth, Freedom is back to early season form from last year and one of the other DE steps up with a pash rush.
Our LB's, DB's, WR's are very good and talented.
With a new simplified coverage scheme mixed in, What if we get more turnovers this year?
We have to get by Oregon, if we do we have a shot at being undefeated and some real momentum building.
Lets look at the Big X, Michigan's QB. Will he be any good?
OSU, a lot of talent but also a ton of turnover. Not saying we should even be favored but they shouldn't be dominant this year.
NW, lost a lot on the DL, and I'm not impressed with their QB in the slightest.
Wisc, new QB too.
MSU, new QB, lost a lot. Beatable if we were to have to face them in the Title game.
Iowa, we beat them if we play well. It's on us IMO.
We obviously have to make sure we do not stumble against the teams we should beat.
I know this is a big list and Im sure there are even more what ifs but it's that time of year for me to be optimistic and I hope the team is as well. I hope the coaches have them believing that if they play well and take care of the ball that they can beat anyone on the schedule. GBR!

No kidding. People constantly whine about how we're irrelevant and nobody pays attention to us anymore, and then every time somebody picks us to do something really amazing, the response you get from those same people is how crazy and stupid it is. Which is it that you want? I sometimes think a lot of those people really aren't sure they want us to be better because then it would take away something they can b!itch and moan about.
if you look at the current pt spreads, we would go at least 11-1 6% of the time. We do that and then win the conf title game and you would think we'd be in.
That's basically suggesting they only lose @ OSU but pull the upset in the B1G title game against Michigan or OSU again (sorry Sparty).

I don't think anyone is suggesting someone who predicts an 8-4 season as rubbish, but I was simply responding to the immediate shame that many felt at the notion that Nebraska could jump into the final 4. Stranger things have happened. I also wouldn't BET on it, but I can dream a bit and think that it isn't out of the question.

- Second year for coaches who understand the team's strengths and weaknesses more thoroughly
- Second year for players to understand the system the coaches were implementing
- Senior QB with really really strong athletic skills
- Very deep offensive talent
- Unknown defensive talent (specifically in the D Line) but a back 7 who by all accounts seems to be more athletic and understands their roles
What we have against us:
- A quarterback who has been prone to give the ball away
- Some new guys on the O-Line leaving it as a question mark
- Serious questions about the D-Line
- (Sadly) a completely green punter
Again, I'm not saying I would put money down on a Final 4 appearance, or even starting the season 7-0, but it is not out of the question.
My point is, realistically, there may only be 1 person on this board who truly believes 12-1 is likely, let alone possible. But can't people speculate and have a little fun? Or is it against the rules?
Do feel it is your job to make sure anyone who hints at the possibility of a highly successful season (one that envisions a B1G championship appearance and some luck against their opponent in that game) should be mocked?

Interesting that so many are predicting UM to take down the conference this year. OSU didn't just kinda beat them last year. People seem to be ignoring that Urban didn't just sign the one Top-5 class and now they're gone. He signs one every year and that team is freaking loaded.
