Anyway, our initial eval on him as at an early Rivals camp. Simply put, he struggled. Now, he was playing out of position on the inside for some reps and was a bit undersized even for a SDE. Now, from what I understand, he's put on some weight and is playing weakside DE in high school this season.
That said, he has some nice physical tools and the film is pretty good. He's a guy that will have a chance to move up this fall. If he has added strength and looks better off the edge, he will almost certainly get a bump. I will almost certainly see him in person, as his high school is a regular stop of mine.
I wouldn't get too caught up in the early ranking. We will never just a move a player up in the rankings without seeing him or seeing new film. That's why he's been stuck with his original ranking. We don't adjust prospect rankings based on offers. We discussed that here with the Peyton Newell situation, I believe.
