WTH happened to Omaha? I took my kids to the children's museum and had to dodge multiple piles of human waste. Also saw a man shooting up in the open without a care.

I remember seeing homeless people waking up in sleeping bags at conagra in the 90’s and early 2000s, but open drug use and piles of human sh@t is a new one for me.

I could be wrong but this seems to be a new phenomenon in Omaha. It has been a decade since I spent a lot of weekends downtown Omaha. During that time I never witnessed piles of human crap and stairwells that wreaked of human piss.

OP out here acting like Omaha is San Francisco
I don't spend as much time in Omaha as I did in 2012-14. I spent a weekend In Omaha around Xmas this year and that was my experience. It was the first and only time I had this experience in Omaha.

I'm curious to see if this is the new norm.

Oh good lord. I live right down the street and have never seen “human waste” or people shooting up in public. Also it’s like -6 degrees, nobody is even outside in the first place.

Maybe stay away from the scary big city OP, it seems to be giving you hallucinations.

Strange. I have never experienced anything like this in Omaha. I think the OPD does a good job.
Omaha if fortunate they have the Police Chief they have IMO. Beyond knowing that he seems to run a tight ship, I don't know much about the guy.

But overall it seems crime isn't significant compared to other US cities.

Lived in Omaha from 2021-2022 with two kids and went to the children’s museum and never saw anything like that. I’ve been back twice over the last year, downtown both times and never saw anything like that. I live in the San Diego metro and it’s night and day difference between the cleanliness of the downtowns

I have never witnessed this in omaha until this winter. That is why I am asking the question. To be fair the guy shooting up was on N 14th north of cuming street.

If you saw it and didn't pick it up you are part of the problem OP. You were with your kids, man. Set the example and be the change.

Were you taking your kids through dark alleyways and abandoned buildings on your way to the children’s museum?

OPD is great. Lived here all my life and never seen anything like what the OP described. So probably BS
I was there with my cousin who lives In Omaha. He was in disbelief too until we walked back to our cars. Sounds like this is a one off thing that didn't get cleaned up because it was the weekend.

It was very weird because this happened on the museums premises. I had to run and grab my youngest from walking through human piss. If you have been there you know the stairs that I am talking about on the northeast corner.

This sounds like Bullshit OP. Omaha isn't San Francisco. I used to work downtown. I don't think I've ever see any piles of shit, and I've certainly never seen anyone shooting up. Right outside the children's museum too? OPD is NOT having that.

The guy shooting up was sitting on a curb north of cuming on 14th street. The piles of crap and piss was on the north east corner of the museum in the stairwell on the corner of Howard and 20th.

We parked on Howard and attempted to walk down the stairs before seeing the piles of crap.
