Ole Miss "parts ways" with Kayla Banworth

No matter how needed or not needed, asking for help on mental issues, report to who you need and move forward with the next steps.
Wonder if accurate?

If this is true. Lol. Soft ass people these days.
In general, I agree BUT probably not a great take on this one.

If a player comes to a coach, someone that holds a leadership position, that they are supposed to be able to trust and asks for mental health help and that coach/leader does not provide support or refer the player to someone that they can get help from, they should be fired. Especially if the coach takes the opposite approach and ridicules the player. Coach can't judge no matter the player history, has to at least refer the player to appropriate mental health support.

Now that being said, probably a lot more to the story but I'm sure Ole Miss took what they felt was the action that best helps to defend them from potential liability.

The player allegedly ended up in the hospital after an OD and needs actual help. But yeah, LOLOL.
If that is the actual case fine, I can understand, but in general no one faces any adversity anymore. If they have to overcome something they will blame mental health. Everything is a damn mental health topic. I’ve said this before, it used to be called life. There is real mental health issues out there but probably 95% of these mental health issues are just bs. You can disagree with me, fine, but we’ve become super soft as a society and want to blame some one or mental health and also Medicare instead of buck up and be a problem solver. /endrant

100% agree. And we wonder why our society is in shambles. Pussification of America is much more of a problem than people think. Those of the Greatest Generation would be/are baffled at what this country has become. This life was never designed to be easy.

I have a retired buddy whose wife emptied out their bank account and 401K on a spending spree after they retired. Now he may have to unretire and go back to work. Nothing wrong with her behavior, she just had a "shopping addiction". We all must have to have empathy for those with "addictions" who ruin other peoples' lives (sarcasm).

If this story is true, she handled it poorly. A smart coach will usher the player off to the nurses office and if the problem is severe enough and ongoing, quietly park her on the end of the bench for as long as necessary. Basically, don't bring your problems to work. There is help available, but it's best to stay away until you get well.

Surprised Kayla was not more aware of the potential backlash of the situation.

The fireable offense is just the acceptable justification that to get rid of someone who you've been wanting to fire for a lot of other reasons. That kind of mentality doesn't play well with young women who play volleyball. So they got rid of her.

It doesn't play well with losers. I can guarantee that the young women who enter Nebraska or Wisconsin expect to be coached hard and not coddled. That's not to say coaches aren't fair or uncaring. Just don't lose sight of why you're there.

Nebraska football used to have an environment of excellence and extremely high standards. When some punk freshman or juco came along, he learned the score very quickly. Sadly we lost that.

The girls I know in the volleyball program have mental toughness, but they wouldn't put up with BS either. "Winners" aren't idiots who blindly follow just about anybody.

Just curious, what is the highest level of education you finished?

BINGO, most times if you ask why that is the answer.
