Ole Miss LB'er visiting

Breon Dixon. Had offers from everyone coming out of HS. Need this kid badly. And can only help with Pappoe for next year (Barry, Dixon went to the same HS). Dixon would play right away. GBR!

Could he be that edge LB/pass rusher we need?

He wouldn’t need to sit a year due to transfer rules?

I'm not sure. He looks more of a MLB to me from his camp vids but he may be faster in-game. He has excellent cover skills. I would thing Tyrin and Mo Barry would slim down a bit and gain their speed back and become some excellent blitzers off the edge.

Pappoe publicly eliminated us a couple weeks ago, do you have up to date or different info?

It's unknown right now due to Ole Miss sanctions. Shea Patterson and Michigan are pushing hard for a release without sitting out so that'll be the answer for Dixon.

Interesting. He was listed as a OLB out of HS and Ole Miss list him as a DB. I haven't seen him, but I assume he has some speed if he plays DB as Ole Miss.

Was a big-time recruit, but he hardly played this year for a terrible Ole Miss defense? Another Lamar Jackson?

6' is small for an edge rusher, so my guess is that he'd play inside or maybe safety.

What are the best options for recruiting out there? Who are the best kids for positions of need at this moment, who will consider Nebraska?

Pretty simple questions. The answers in February.

They gave up 35 PPG, shouldn't matter why someone played sparingly as a true frosh.

Committed to Georgia, signed with Ole Miss, has a dirty offer list out of high school, currently wanted by Wisconsin while Frost and staff recruited him at UCF. And he visited UCF while committed to UGA.

That is good enough for this hombre.

I am a dummy on the difference required. But is the want for taller guys at rush end in Chinanders defense due to having the possibility of better leverage/hand skills?

Funny reference to "hand skills" considering the best UCF edge rusher didn't have one.

Best guys available, IMO. Frost is combing the board like a Boss looking for talent, anywhere.

That guy is so damn quick with his moves, tackles have no chance on him.

Inside wouldn't surprise me. Nebraska needs more speed, everywhere. Especially if the kid has to sit a year, he might embrace the idea of adding 15-20lbs and taking advantage of his skill set.

If listed as a DB could play OLB as well.

There was a coaching change in Lincoln earlier this month and the Huskers are now out of the race for the No. 15 prospect in the country.

"Nebraska kind of shook things up and I do not want to make a decision until I know 120-percent that the school is right for me, so I am slowing things down," said Pappoe. "I just do not want to rush this. I still have plenty of time to make the right decision, so I have a new plan."

"Clemson and Georgia are my top two schools," said Pappoe. "I have visited both schools a bunch, I have great relationships with multiple coaches on each staff and I know they are going to be on my list until I make my decision."

I still think we have a shot at Poppe especially if Dixon is N. That would be 2 former teammates of his in Lincoln and one of the best staffs in the nation. Let's get Dixon N first and see what happens!

He played nickel / strong safety at Old Miss.

Man, I sure hope you are right! Surprise us all and kick some @$$!

I just never think it's as bad as it seems until you know it's as bad as it seems. In a few years we'll see where we stand.
I promise you, without a shadow of a doubt that Husker football will be much better off than it is now in 2 and 3 yeats. Frankly, i am counting on dramatic improvements in 9 months!

At times individual guys made some really good plays that made me believe that we have very good talent at most positions. We made tons of mistakes on run fills (I call them fills not fits because that's how I learned it back in another century) and we had lots of busts on coverages. I just think there was a lot of confusion that got worse IMO when most of our players got frustrated and gave up trying to understand what that nut job Diaco was trying to do. It was the perfect combination of Diaco being the only coach on staff who had ever coached his system, players who had never played in the system, lots of injuries in our back 8 and a head coach who wasn't a particularly strong leader. It was doomed to fail

Or Vice Versa. But I'll take a great Front 7 first.

Parcells football
I suspect a coach could make 11 good players look pretty bad pretty much all on his own...I think we've seen it a couple of times here in the past 15 years.

Dunno.

Don't remember a complete Husker team that was legitimately "elite."

Some good sides. 2012? defense with Suh, they were salty.

Need to see a real offense in Lincoln. Haven't seen one since Crouch, that could win against a Top 5 team...

To be fair we were expecting growing pains defensively and it happened, sadly we weren't stable enough to have any light at the end of the tunnel. Confusion alone will make your defense look slow and unathletic simply because you're playing from behind the 8-ball. I think we have some needs, but other than that I agree that we have some talented players, much better than advertised IMO.

I think a big benefit to Frost bringing his staff with him is that it offers Nebraska some stability in staff. They've worked together, they're on the same page and it's known what is expected. It was a smart move IMO and the troubles of hiring new coaches and then getting everyone on the same page isn't a factor. They can go right to work without trying to get it all figured out. Obviously not a response about the players here, just touching a little on your comment about Diaco being the only one to coach his system.

I certainly hope so, most Nebraska fans have never in their life experienced a 4 win season. I wouldn't count on UCF type results in year 2 considering we play in a much tougher conference but I think we'll do pretty well. The way things are looking we'll have a 3 year starter at QB so year three could be an interesting one.

Look at OSU.

2010 under Tressel they are 12-1
2011 under Luke Fickel they go 6-7
2012 Meyer comes in and they go 12-0

Same players, many of the same assistants... completely different looking team on the field.

A bad coach and bad schemes can make elite players look mediocre and can make really good players look absolutely terrible.

Worth noting, IIRC, that 2011 is the year Braxton Miller got injured and they had to play their God awful backup who singlehandedly stalled their offense. Those "same players" were elite recruits the whole time.

UCF is gonna come back down to earth, that kid Milton can ball but they won't catch lightning in a bottle again like they did last year. Nebraska is gonna take a couple years to turn around.

must have missed this one. Transferring here from Ole Miss visiting January 12th and if he likes it will be starting classes shortly thereafter. 4star recruit out of high school, played quite a bit as a true freshman.

There is a thread on it somewhere. Being recruited as a hybrid OLB/Nickel.
