"The Husker Way:" As was mentioned on Wednesday, the Huskers established some captains during the offseason. It was an idea put forth by the weight coaches, with 11 captains voted on by their teammates.

Those 11 captains then drafted teammates to be in their groups, with points kept in all areas of their life: including going to class, community service, being on time, keeping their locker clean, weight room work, etc.

Called "The Husker Way," the competition will last until fall camp.

"Each guy has a partner within the team. If one of the guys messes up, then he gets kicked out of the (main) locker room, has to go down to the (other) locker room, and his partner has to go with him," Riley said. "So there's stuff like that built in where you make it pretty accountable for everybody, I hope."

According to offensive lineman Jerald Foster, who showed impressive memory skills, the 11 captains are Nick Gates, Freedom Akinmoladun, Tanner Lee, Mick Stoltenberg, Chris Weber, Chris Jones, Dedrick Young, Jacob Weinmaster, Stanley Morgan, Luke McNitt and himself.

Foster said both he and Gates are honored to be in a position like that.

"We've definitely taken it upon ourselves to really step up to the plate," Foster said. "It's going to be fun. When we get going with more practices for spring ball, we’re going to have to give 100 percent and ask for 100 percent from everyone else. http://journalstar.com/sports/huske...cle_7d70eda1-e584-5112-9ce1-ea981699efcb.html
