I think Miles knows McVeigh is a huge liability against their athleticism. We will struggle to shoot all night if he uses that as an excuse to not play Jack very much. Probably won't see Horne for more than a minute or 2.

Would like to see some zone employed. Gophers have shown zero patience and no real offense other than to put their head down a drive to the rim. Seems like a zone might frustrate them.
Apparently so. Not sure what he was complaining about. The officiating has been pretty even-handed tonight, in my opinion.

Looking like it could be a 3rd straight blowout since the Barfknecht article. We seem to be getting worse as the season goes along, while other young teams like Minnesota and Illinois have improved significantly.

I still like how people think Webster is such a solid defender. It is clear they do not let these guys work on shooting enough. All this focus on a terrible defensive team.... eventually you gotta ride the weakness and try and play to your strengths.
Agreed. With a coach with 1 year HC experience at not even a mid major school for 1 year before getting a BIG job.

I think it was actually on Eichorst. He is an expert at throwing his voice, and got that technical to further sabotage the team.
I can only surmise that Fuller must have relatives at the game. Those two first-half stints made no sense at all.
Painful to watch. This team just imploded. I hear this is the most talented team at NU in decades, everyone is healthy. What's the issue?
Illinois has improved lately...Minnesota started out like a comet 12-1 going into conference play they have turned the corner after Petino was on the hot seat after last season and the fan base wanted him GONE.
Zero ball movement, for one thing. Huskers have used only half the floor on most possessions and we have a lot of ball-stoppers on the team. Gophers are barely breaking a sweat on the defensive end. That's not the only issue, but it's right up there.
True, but Richard is in Year 4 while Miles is in Year 5. If Doc Sadler, who many believe to be a poor coach, could go .500 in conference play with the smallest team in D-I basketball...these last 3 losing seasons under Miles seem to be a reflection of very poor coaching.
Eichorst and Boehm are both sitting right behind the NU bench. Can't be too pleased with what they've seen so far tonight.

doc was a better in game coach (wasnt even that good, which says something) and was much better at getting his team ready to play.
My point was about Minnesota and Illinois.. I wasn't comparing Minnesota and Nebraska..
Sorry if you read in to it that way.
Doc's offense and recruiting left a lot to be desired, but for the most part his teams did a few things very well: Transition Defense, Defensive Rotations, and Limiting Turnovers on Offense.
I can't really think of any one thing that Miles' teams consistently do very well.
I know some undergarments got wadded recently when I suggested that NU really needs another ball-handler for next year. But if Evan Taylor handles the ball this much next season, it will get ugly. Taylor is a serviceable role player but his ball-handling is dismal - and beyond Watson, so is everyone else's.
