His name is Hunter Thompson from Pine Bluffs (Arkansas?).

We don't need another 6'10 bench warmer... that kid would get his teeth knocked out in the Big 10

His game is more like Walter Pitchford from what I hear. This program is soft enough already. A stretch four is a luxury item that this program doesn't need at this point.

Pine Bluff Wyoming. Sounds like a lean toward UNLV from what I have heard. I think CU and Hunter "mutually agreed" to part ways shortly before CU obtained the commitment this weekend from former UCLA commit Kobe Paras.

Doubtful...but, he would certainly be a better option than not filling out the roster like Miles loves to do.

I've read this a lot from you. What's it matter if a scholarship is available? The way I look at it, it allows the opportunity for another spring or summer transfer. It also could allow three in the 2017 class instead of two, that's not a bad thing. It's almost as if you'd rather have the 13th scholarship taken, just to be taken. We're not going 13 deep, we couldn't land another transfer so we have an opening.

It's not like someone didn't leave three weeks ago. Wait, someone did.

Time to move on to another topic. Lots of talent in Lincoln, deepest squad Miles has had yet. Miles will either swim or sink, regardless of a 13th scholarship player.

It wouldn't matter if this was a case of Miles wanting to carry a scholarship to carry over to the next years recruiting class. But, that's been the case since he stepped foot on campus and he has yet to use all the alloted scholarships in his first 4 years. If you don't see how that's a bit of an issue I can't help you. No, I wouldn't take a 13th guy just to take him...if this was a one year deal...no biggie...the fact that it turns into an issue every year where we are 1-2 guys short is a recruiting issue. It appears we already reached on the JUCO signee because at this point we are desperate for warm bodies. As for the deepest squad...I'll believe it when I see it. This team will likely be projected to finish 12-13th in the Big Ten. I think we should be better than that but there is far too many question marks still.

You don't need to help me, I understand it as it's not rocket science. Because it's happened every year, it's pretty obvious it's intentional. Not because he can't fill it but because he prefers to keep it open for that midyear/spring/summer transfer. With how basketball recruiting is now, especially with transfers, it's a dang smart strategy. I'd hate to be full and not in the market during the holiday break for any available transfer.

Appreciate the response, the broken record will continue to skip.

If it's intentional every year then he is failing because he has yet to find someone to use that 13th sholarship. Sure, it's a smart strategy if it works. It hasn't worked for Miles. BTW, we have signed a transfer in nearly every class and yet Miles still carries over a scholarship every year. Like I said, we already reached in this years class with Taylor so I don't want to do that again with the one available scholarship. Unless of course...he can find a 5th year guy.

Ah, it's only a smart strategy if it works. You'll be the first one on here slamming Miles, or whomever the coach is, had we filled the 13th spot and someone is interested in December but we couldn't pursue since we were full. Go ahead and deny it, it won't fool me. I'm well aware of what transfers we've signed. Ah, we reached with Taylor, gosh dang that coach for only having two ESPN top 53 guys along with two Rivals top 113 guys.

If there's one recruiting aspect Miles has been good at, it's transfers. There's only one that hasn't worked out so far, and coach didn't hesitate to punt him. And if he chooses to keep one open, and doesn't fill it, I'm good with that. You're not. Neither is going to change the others mind, broken record skipping to 2017 and all.

We have had 1 December transfer visit under Miles...and we failed to land the recruit. Laughable if you really think Miles carries over a scholarship every single year thinking he's going to land a December transfer. The evidence suggest otherwise. And yes..it appears Taylor is a reach based on his JUCO stats. I'd rather have him than not considering our lack of depth. With those two top 53 recruits...and two top 113 recruits we should probably make the big dance this year....right?

We've had more than one available to transfer midyear visit before the second semester started. We had one this past winter from out west, he didn't end up transferring midyear and decided to stay out west. Just because something isn't reported doesn't mean it hadn't happened. Kind of like someone else on the roster since the season ended visited another school, it never got out and likely won't get out.

Petteway = reach based on TT stats.
Pitchford = reach based on UF stats.
Smith = reach, based on SMU stats (don't remember JUCO #'s).
Abraham = reach based on GU stats.
White = reach based on KU stats.
Gill = reach based on UL stats.
Palmer Jr = reach based on UM stats.

Biggs = not a reach based on JUCO stats.

Miles has a history with transfers, and it favors his decision to sign certain guys, not your opinion. Will it continue with Taylor? Only time will tell, but it's icing on the cake if he contributes.

All of the above guys were on High major rosters and got limited minutes. Some were very highly recruited either in high school or on he transfer market. Taylor on the other hand has had minutes to show what he is capable of. And with that he shot 35% from the field. And 18% from 3PT. At the JUCO level. Like I said...id rather have him than not but he is definitely a reach. But that's usually whose available at this point in recruiting. Who was the kid who visited from out west?

Taylor was also on a D1 roster, Samford. He also he earned all freshmen honors while averaging 6 and 3. Don't worry about the kid out west, he's a moot point.

So you don't have a name? And again...with all this talent on the roster...no excuses to have another year of not postseason right? Just want all the excuses out of the way this year.

The name is moot, look at UNLV's roster and ask around. You want to pop off like you have the answers, show everyone. I haven't said a word that leads to excuses, no post-season, expectations or anything else.

As I already said, he'll sink or swim. Makes no difference to me.

Uche Ofoegbu? Is that who you are referring to? No need to pop off. Not utilizing all your available scholarships for four consecutive years is not smart. That's just common sense regardless of what some perceive to be the reason. It's certainly not the main reason the past two years have been bad...but I can think of a few local talent that would look good in red that we passed on despite holding on to that scholarship.

If New Mexico offered him, then Nebraska fans shouldn't feel like he's below our program. We can't hold a candle to their basketball program.

Considering that Miles now has JT to play the 5, I think this kid could be a solid addition. Might he be a project? Probably, but it's not like he is Mikki Moore thin. He's got some weight on his frame and could add more.

If we could get him, I'd take him.

No, keep digging you'll eventually get it. There's plenty of coaches that don't use all 13, some are at top schools, some are middle of the road and some are bad.

It is what it is, broken record and all.

There are some that don't utilize all their available scholarships every year...but four years(maybe 5) in a row? For a high major program? I would find that surprising. First run thru the UNLV roster I didn't see any others that fit the criteria. Unless they are a walk on. Either way...saving a scholarship every year on hopes for a mid year transfer and then not once landing a mid year guy only further proves Miles continues to do himself and the program a disservice. Maybe some year it will payoff...but at that point will it be too late for Miles?

Four straight isn't something I can answer without researching, missed that qualifier in your response. 3 of 4 isn't out of the question, keep your ears open as it's discussed quite a bit during games. You act like he stops recruiting once he gets to 12, which isn't the case. Not a walk-on at UNLV either.

Bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

It's reality, not a defense, your expression doesn't fit.

Obviously you don't understand what the expression means or you'd see it fits perfect. Landing a kid in the traditional recruiting process is better than leaving a spot open in hopes to getting a kid to transfer in.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush Definition: The things we already have are more valuable than the things we only hope to get.

I'm trying to figure out why Miles couldn't out recruit Creighton for Kobe Paras. Former UCLA commit. Instead Miles brings in a 6'3" kid who can't shoot, and repackages him as a 6'5" kid who can play three or four positions. I'd prefer to get an athlete like Paras in the fold over Taylor although as Miles said, Taylor's an excellent student and a hell of a nice guy!

I am talking about the coaches opinion to leave scholarships open for transfers. You stated that there are "plenty of coaches that do that". I am not talking about weather it occurs or not. I agree with you, it happens. All I am saying is IMO it's too risky to leave open a scholarship for transfers. The expression applies to coaches that leave a scholarship open for a future transfer vs filling up on recruiting. Nothing really about you but about the coaches that do it.

The coaches doing it make millions of dollars, and have championships. I'll take their decision to do so over your opinion.
